EB FFA Finds Success at HLSR

While most students get to go on vacations during Spring Break, many EB FFA members get to go to the stock show.  For the past two weeks, 36 EB FFA members competed in the Houston Livestock Show exhibiting various projects.  This year was very successful and members brought home many trophies and accomplishments.  

Dalton Schmidt competed in the Young Guns Clay Shoot. 

Marshall Mahalitc showed a Berkshire gilt.

Cade Boettcher and Cody Hillman showed Medium Wool Lambs.

Hannah, Ralston, Marshall and Myla competed  in the Public Speaking contest with over 300 other exhibitors

The Heifer Show team was very successful as well:
   Davis Coldeway - Brahman, 1st in class, Reserve Champion Calf Division
   Colby Jedlicka - Simbrah, 1st in class in the Junior Show, 4th in class in the Scramble Show
   Sydnie Lackey - Hereford, 1st in class in both the Junior and Scramble Show, 3rd place
                              Showmanship in the Scramble Show out of 307 exhibitors
   Hannah Chumchal - Brahman, 7th in class
   Ralston Chumchal - Brahman, 7th in class
   Caitlyn Fuechec - Brahman, 7th in class
   Logan Goudeau - Brahman, 7th in class
   Cana Matthys - Simbrah, 13th in class
   Abbey Sellers - Brahman, 8th in class
   Anne Sellers - Brahman, 13th in class
   Julianne Sellers - Brahman, 9th in class
   Dalton Schmidt - Simbrah, 9th in class
   Rylee Vacek - Charolais, 11th in class

Market Steers 
   Myla Mahalitc - was named Reserve Champion Red Angus Steer and got to take her steer                                  down on the floor of NRG Stadium for the Champion Steer Drive
   Marshall Mahalitc - showed an American Breeds Cross steer
   Jayden Davis - showed a Simbrah steer

Dairy Cattle
   Shelby AuBuchon - Holstein - 1st in class, Reserve Junior Champion 
                                   Jersey - 8th in class

State Tractor Tech Contest - the team of Jonah Korenek, Colton Hundl and Joseph Vacek
      competed int he two day event.  They took the test and components evaluation portion of hte
      contest on Day 1, scoring high enough to advance to Day 2.  The Top 10 teams competed in
      the Debugging portion of the contest on Day 2.  The team was awarded 8th place.  

Wildlife Judging - 17th - Jonah Korenek, Ricky Rico, Dylan Johnston

Horse Judging - 21st - Reagan Korenek, Emily Dawson, Bailey Gubert, Blair Berry

Livestock Judging - Zachary Vacek and Dalton Schmidt received a calf scramble certificate
                                13th - Zachary Vacek, Dalton Schmidt, Paige Romero, Jenna LeBlanc
                                 23rd - Shane Hlavinka, Colby Jedlicka, JR Schauer, Sydnie Lackey
                                 31st Jr Team - Blake Jedlicka, Rylee Vacek, Keegan & London Cavness

Calf Scramble - JR Schauer caught a calf on the floor during the rodeo performance adn will receive a certificate

Ag Mechanics 
   Jared Fuechec - received a blue ribbon on his 6-bale Round Bale Trailer and placed 5th in a
                             competitive class of trailers

We also found out that Sydnie Lackey won a $3000 scholarship from the Fort Worth Calf Scramble Program.
