EB FFA Career Development Teams Compete at First Contest

Just like the rest of the district, the EB FFA CDE (Career Development Teams) have been busy. This weekend was our first contest of the year. There are over 60 kids that signed up to participate on CDE Teams this year and with that, Mrs. Hill and I have our work cut out for us getting those kids ready for contests. The kids have work to do as well, studying and performing at contests to position themselves for one of 4 spots on each team. Below are the results from this past weekend.

Tractor Tech: Trey Schmidt, Allen Anderson, and Tanner Schmidt placed 4th overall at the Area contest. They came up a little short of qualifying for state (only 1st and 2nd advance). The good news is that Trey and Tanner scored their highest scores of the year and the team started their tractor at least 5 minutes faster than any other team. Tanner and Trey will be back for next years team.

Farm Business Mgmt: Amber Adamcik, Quinn Dusek, and Chloe Howard made up EB FFA's first ever Farm Business Mgmt team. They placed 4th as a team with a 7th place individual finish for Amber. They competed against and beat some state qualifying teams from last year.

Wildlife Mgmt: Courtney Howard, Morgan Swoboda, Jonah Korenek, Ben Sharp and Jacob Guthman finished 10th as a team. THis was Jonah, Ben, and Jacob's first wildlife contest ever. They should drastically improve their scores as the season progresses.Courtney and Morgan anchored the team last year and are expected to do so again this year.

Vet Tech: Jenna LeBlanc, Shawna Lackey, Kasey Kretschmar, Kaechele Linder, Savannah Cessna, AJ Navarro, Raelynn Muniz, and Tori Trcka placed 14th as a team. Shawna, Kasey, and Savannah are all returning from last year bu they were outscored by Jenna LeBlanc in her very first contest. This contest is one of the most competitive contests and they competed against many state qualifiers from last year.

Poultry: Meagan Svatek, MOrgan Van Gossen, Kayla Dobias, and Danielle Vacek placed 15th. All of these girls are returning to the poultry team again this year. They have made great strides since last year but still have a long way to go. Studying and practicing is the key!

All of our teams will be back in action on Thursday at the Katy Invitiational and Friday at the Ridgepoint Invitational. Dont worry... not all kids are going to all contests! : )

Thanks for your support of the EBHS students and their pursuit of excellence in everything that they do.
