A huge congratulations to the East Bernard Brahmarettes for
winning the Schulenburg Tournament!
On Friday afternoon, the Brahmarettes traveled to
Schulenburg for day 2 of the tournament. In the first game, the Brahmarettes
used strong defense to secure a 57-31 victory over Somerville. Leading the
scoring in that game was Jessica Rabius with 15, Cheslee Karasek with 12, Julia
Janczak with 9, Deedee Smith with 9, Erin Dawson with 4, and Emily Kurtz with
2. In the second game, the Brahmarettes battled hard but lost a close game to
Schulenburg by a final of 38-35. Leading scorers in that game were Jessica
Rabius with 16, Cheslee Karasek with 8, Julia Janczak with 5, Mackensi Muzik
with 4, and Erin Dawson with 2. East Bernard finished pool play 3-1 and secured
the #1 seed to play in the championship game on Saturday.
On Saturday, the Brahmarettes played in the championship
game against La Grange. The girls played extremely hard and left it all on the
court to come away with a 35-34 victory to seal the championship. Leading
scorers for that game were Cheslee Karasek with 11, Jessica Rabius with 10,
Julia Janczak with 4, Emily Kurtz with 4, Deedee Smith with 3, Erin Dawson with
2, and Logan Goudeau with 1. Playing extremely well defensively and on the
glass was Erin Dawson and Blair Berry.
Congratulations to Jessica Rabius on being named Tournament
MVP, and Cheslee Karasek on being selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Overall, the girls went 4-1 on the weekend and are now 9-4
on the season. JV and Varsity will open up district play on Tuesday in
Hitchcock, beginning at 5:00.
