East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity Softball Team fell 14-0 to Danbury at EB on Tuesday. 

Highlights:
Danielle Stavinoha went 1-2. She singled in the fifth inning.
Katie Reyna had 3 strike outs in only two innings pitched!

TENNIS DISTRICT CHAMPS!

Congratulations goes out to the Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis team for being the District Champs!

 

We qualified 14 out of 16 contestants to continue to the Regional Tennis Tournament in San Marcos.

1st place Boys Doubles went to Daniel Garza and Nathan Hlavinka while Mac and Caleb Gideon placed 2nd.

1st place Girls Doubles went to Kristen and Erin Cullers while Brandy Babin and Ashley Dusek placed 2nd.

1st place Mixed Doubles went to Kelly Hernandez and Jonathan Hlavinka and 2nd place was Karen Johnson and Trevor Cook.

Rachel Polak won girls singles, and Blake Hlavinka was 2nd in boys singles.

Connor Dusek placed 3rd and is alternate in boys singles.

Brahma Baseball

The Brahma Varsity baseball team defeated Danbury 11-1 ending the the first round of district play with a record of 6-0.

Cole Koeppen's complete game one hit shutout, along with the Brahmas 9 hits was more than the Panthers could handle. 

The baseball team and coaches would like to thank the entire Brahma community for its support of the baseball program. 

RECOGNITION AT CAPITOL

East Bernard ISD Senior football players and coaches were recognized today at Texas State Capitol in Austin for their State win at Cowboy Stadium December 20, 2012.

STUDENT COUNCIL APRIL BLOOD DRIVE

East Bernard Student Council will hold their last Blood Drive for the 2012-2013 school year on Friday, April 19, 2013. The Blood Drive will be held in the old HS gym from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Students, teachers, and members of the community are invited to donate blood that will save lives.  For every 1 unit collected, 3 people can be saved.

All donors attempting to donate during April will be entered in a Commit for Life $500.00 voucher from Southwest Airlines.

VARSITY/JV TENNIS TEAM

EB Tennis made a statement at yesterday's 1st round of district. In 3 divisions, Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Mixed we will be competing against each other for 1st on Wednesday.

 

These students are Daniel Garza and Nathan Hlavinka, Mac Gideon and Caleb Gideon, Kelly Hernandez and Jonathan Hlavinka, Karen Johnson and Trevor Cook, Kristen Cullers and Erin Cullers, Brandy Babin and Ashley Dusek.

 

In addition to these players, Connor Dusek and Rachel Polak will play Brazos for 1st in singles and Blake Hlavinka will play for 3rd trying to win a playback.

If you seeing any of these kids wish them luck for tomorrow.

 

In JV, we also had several medalist.

Malynn Plunkett and Chase Stavinoha won the mixed doubles division while Katlynn Leonards and Jordan Hoegemeyer placed 2nd.

Brent Babin was 1st place boys singles followed by Russell Zahradnic with 2nd.

Corrina Navarro won the girls singles division and Shelby Aschenbeck was 2nd.

Great job to our EB Tennis Team.

BRAHMA VARSITY BASEBALL

The Varsity baseball team defeated Van Vleck last Friday night 15-0.  This moves the Brahma district record 
to 5-0.

Justin Mcguire and Cole Koeppen led the offense with 4 RBI's each. Pitching standouts were Josh Vincek and 
Ty Slanina who threw a combined no hitter.

Come out and the support your Brahmas as they take on the  Danbury Panthers tonight at home.  

GIRLS GOLF TEAM

The East Bernard Girls Golf Team competed Monday in the Bellville Invitational at Pecan Lakes CC in Navasota. Results were as follows:

Team of Annie Bradley (88), Kate Rimer (88), Kara Morse (90), and Jayci Potts (120) placed 2nd with a total of (386).

Annie Bradley was the 3rd place medalist and Kate Rimer was the 4th place medalist.

The girls will compete next in the District Tournament on Monday April 8th at Stephen F. Austin GC in Sealy

The East Bernard Boys Golf Team competed Monday 3/25 in the Bellville Invitational at Pecan Lakes CC in Navasota. Results were as follows:

Team of Garrett Losack (83), Nathan Tovar (90), Derrick Rucka (91), Josh Vincek (92), and Ethan Russell (105) placed 3rd with a total of (356)

Barrett Janecek also competed as a medalist with a round of (104)

East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity takes out Van Vleck with help from Lopez, 5-0

Angelica Lopez went 2-3, sparking East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity to a 5-0 victory in seven innings over Van Vleck on Friday at Van Vleck.

She singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity's Katie Reyna kept Van Vleck off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on 10 hits while ringing up nine.

East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity never trailed after scoring two runs in the third on a two-run single by Haley Socha.

East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity tacked on another two runs in the sixth. Kaitlyn Floyd started the inning with a single, plating Lopez. That was followed up by Reyna's double, scoring Floyd.

Alyssa Reyes also had 2 hits with 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases.

District Record 4-2

2013 TRACTOR TECH TEAM STATE CHAMPIONS!!

EB FFA Tractor Tech Team 2013 State Champions

The East Bernard FFA Tractor Technician team came out on top at the State FFA Tractor Technician contest held on March 11, 2013 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. 

The Tractor Technician Contest is in broken up into three parts in which a three member team participates.  The first two parts are individual events, while the third is a team event.  Part 1 is a Test over tractor mechanics knowledge, Part 2 is a Components Evaluation and Part 3 is a Tractor Debugging event in which the team has 30 minutes to evaluate a tractor and fix 5 malfunctions in order to safely drive the tractor.  The scores from the individual events and the team event are added together to determine the winner. 

20 teams from across the state of Texas started the contest with Parts 1 & 2.  The Top 10 teams after Parts 1 & 2, participated in Part 3.  The East Bernard FFA Tractor Tech team had a total score on Parts 1 & 2 of 444 out of 600, securing them a spot in the Top 10 teams to participate in Part 3.  After finding all 5 bugs successfully and driving their tractor, EB FFA came out on top securing the FFA State Champion title for 2013.

Team members of the State Champion Tractor Tech Team were Jacob Korenek, Jacob Blazek and Kyle Hlavinka.  Jacob Korenek also scored the highest at the contest in the Component Evaluation part and was named the High Point Individual of the entire State contest. Hlavinka was second and Blazek was named third High Individual.  The team brought home several plaques as well as approximately $8000 in tools. The team scored a 839 out of a possible 1000.

I have attached an ordering form, please return forms "with payment" to myself or you can put in my box in the front office. Again, Mrs. Polak will also be accepting payments and forms at Creative impressions. Please make all checks out to EBISD ATHLETICS. All DVD's should be ready within 2 weeks. The Brahma Varsity baseball team improved their district record to 4-0 last night by beating
 the Rice Raiders 13-0.

Jacob Vincek and Justin Mcguire led the offensive charge with both having 4 RBI's and each hitting a homerun. Cole Koeppen was the winning pitcher. The next game is on Friday night in Van Vleck at 7:00.

*REMINDER*-STATE RING CEREMONY

Wednesday 3/20/13 we will be having our State Football Ring Ceremony at 3:00 p.m. at the football stadium (JH gym in case of bad weather). We will be on a pep rally schedule tomorrow to accommodate this ceremony. Buses will run following the ceremony.

Important note to all parents - The Balfour reps will be set up in the coaches office to take final payment for rings (Cash, Check, or Credit Card) immediately following the ceremony. Please come into the field house to take care of this. Any pendents, etc.. that were purchased will be picked up in the coaches office following the ceremony as well.

TEAM TENNIS RESULTS

Congratulations goes out  to the varsity tennis team for placing 5th in the TTCA State Team Tennis Tournament last weekend.  Due to the rain, they played UIL format on Friday beating Franklin 5-4, but losing to Mason 1-8. On Saturday, they bounced back and played 2 tough matches winning both against Godley 11-8, and Ingram 10-9 earning them 5th.  This is the best finish we've had since qualifying.  If you see any of these kiddos, please tell the congrats

Congratulations to FBLA member Senior Lauren Riley for winning 3rd place in Word Processing II at the State Leadership Conference in Dallas last weekend.

Senior Austin Lee was also recognized as a Who's Who in FBLA. Five members from East Bernard joined over 1300 members from across the state at the conference.

Annie Bradley was 1st place medalist with a round of (86) and Garrett Losack was 7th place medalist with a round of (83).

RING CEREMONY FOR STATE CHAMPIONS

We will have our ring ceremony, for the 2012 State Champion East Bernard Brahmas, on Wednesday March 20, at 3:00 p.m.Aat the football stadium. If weather is an issue we will move it to the JH gym. We will be on a pep-rally schedule on this day and would like all campuses, the band, parents, and the community to be in attendance and celebrate this day with the boys! We will dismiss school when ceremony is over like we would do after a pep-rally during the season.

BRAHMA BASEBALL

The 2013 Brahmas baseball team opened up with district wins against the Boling Bulldogs.
The JV won by a score of 7-1
The Varsity won 10-0  The Brahmas offense was led by Ty Slanina who had 3 hits including a base clearing triple to put the good guys in the drivers seat for the rest of the game. Justin Mcguire and Cole Koeppen also had big hits to drive in runs.
Cole Koeppen and Garret Polak pitched a combined 3 hitter to lead the the Brahma defense.

Congrats to both baseball teams.

EBHS TENNIS

Congratulations to the Varsity Tennis.  They competed at the TTCA Regional Tennis Tournament in Somerville this weekend and swept the competition.  They beat Schulenburg 12-7, Weimer 17-2, and Somerville 19-0.

They will move on to compete at the state competition this weekend in Georgetown.

Brahma Baseball

The Brahma varsity baseball team defeated Weimar 12-2 in the morning game yesterday to open the Sacred Heart baseball Tournament.

In the evening semifinal game against a strong 7-1 St. Joseph team from Victoria, the Brahmas played a near flawless game to defeat Flyers 2-1.  These wins bring the Brahma record to 5-1.
The Brahmas will compete in the Championship game on Saturday night at 6:00 pm in Hallettsville.
