EB FFA Tractor Tech Team 2013 State
Champions
The
East Bernard FFA Tractor Technician team came out on top at the State FFA
Tractor Technician contest held on March 11, 2013 at the Houston Livestock Show
and Rodeo.
The
Tractor Technician Contest is in broken up into three parts in which a three
member team participates. The first two
parts are individual events, while the third is a team event. Part 1 is a Test over tractor mechanics
knowledge, Part 2 is a Components Evaluation and Part 3 is a Tractor Debugging
event in which the team has 30 minutes to evaluate a tractor and fix 5 malfunctions
in order to safely drive the tractor.
The scores from the individual events and the team event are added
together to determine the winner.
20
teams from across the state of Texas started the contest with Parts 1 &
2. The Top 10 teams after Parts 1 &
2, participated in Part 3. The East
Bernard FFA Tractor Tech team had a total score on Parts 1 & 2 of 444 out
of 600, securing them a spot in the Top 10 teams to participate in Part 3. After finding all 5 bugs successfully and
driving their tractor, EB FFA came out on top securing the FFA State Champion
title for 2013.
Team members of the
State Champion Tractor Tech Team were Jacob Korenek, Jacob Blazek and Kyle
Hlavinka. Jacob Korenek also scored the
highest at the contest in the Component Evaluation part and was named the High
Point Individual of the entire State contest. Hlavinka was second and Blazek
was named third High Individual. The
team brought home several plaques as well as approximately $8000 in tools. The
team scored a 839 out of a possible 1000.
