Brahma Basketball
The Brahma Boys' Basketball team had their first action of the season this past weekend in Industrial at the JAM Tournament.
The boys started the bracket play Friday with a 74-30 victory over the Ganado Indians. The Brahmas continued their winning ways Saturday morning with a "pay-back" victory over the host team, Industrial Cobras. The Brahmas took the game with a hard fought 46-34 performance.
The Brahmas struggled the second half of the final vs. Columbia. After being down 19-18 at halftime the Brahmas were shorthanded and ran out of gas being outscored in the second half.
Overall the tournament was a great way for the Brahmas to get their feet wet and get ready for District play which starts Tuesday at Boling.
The Brahams took home the Second Place Trophy while Grant Aschenbeck and JJ Talas were named to the All-Tournament Team.

FFA STATE RESULTS
There are 10 FFA Areas in the state and the top two teams from each area qualify for the State contest. On Friday, 2 semi final heats of 10 teams each were conducted. The top 5 teams from each heat went on to Saturday to compete in a Finals round. The EB FFA radio team was in the top 5 teams of their heat and advanced to the Finals. After Saturday's Finals round, the team placed 4th.
Just to put a little perspective on the magnitude of this feat...there are over 1,100 FFA chapters in the state of Texas that can enter the LDE contests. There were 675 entries in the Radio Broadcasting event. Which means we were 4th out of 675 teams.
