Mighty Brahma Band
I am proud to report that our Mighty Brahma Band brought home the First Division Superior Trophy from UIL Marching Competition this past Saturday. This constitutes the 7th consecutive year that the Brahma Band has demonstrated First Division performance in UIL Marching. Please congratulate our students for their achievement, they have weathered a storm of new challenges this year and deserve a big pat on the back.
There are many people we would like to recognize for helping make our success possible. Mr. Bobby Jones and our transportation/maintenance department take very good care of us. Thanks to our custodians for their hard work. Our Band Booster Club led by Liz Sims is there for us whenever we need them. Jackson and Brandon in our Tech department have kept us running and have helped in band rehearsals. Special thank you to AD Long and all of the EB coaching staff for sharing the students with us. We appreciate our cheerleaders for cheering us on. Band parents that have worked at the concession stand and have helped at games and contests, we could not have made it happen without your efforts. Our 7th and 8th grade Banner Bulls gave our show another touch of class that no one else had.
On a personal note, our administrators in East Bernard are best I have ever worked with, thank you for your constant support and council.
More Trophies coming soon!

2012 College Readiness Award
East Bernard High School has just received the 2012 College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council for increasing the number of students taking the ACT Assessment over the past five years as well significantly increasing our level of achievement and college readiness. The Texas ACT Council is comprised of secondary and post-secondary educators who advise ACT, Inc. on the utilization of ACT programs and services in Texas schools and colleges. ACT, Inc. is the not-for-profit organization that provides assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas of education and workforce development and the publisher of the ACT assessment. The ACT Assessment is the college admissions test that is used and accepted by all colleges nationwide and throughout Texas.
According to Karen L. Pennell, Assistant Vice President and ACT Southwest Regional Manager: "The Texas ACT Council wanted to recognize those Texas high schools that have made significant strides in increasing the college and career readiness of their graduates as demonstrated by their ACT score increases over the past five years. This can only happen as a result of the high school's faculty and staff efforts and the dedication of East Bernard High School students and parents to focus on college and career readiness and raise the level of academic readiness for all students. Only 170 high schools in Texas were honored for this superior level of accomplishments, which represents only 9% of all Texas High Schools. We are very proud of their faculty, staff, and students! Congratulations!
