Rodeo Art East Bernard

Howdy y’all! Rodeo Houston is here and so is Rodeo Art East Bernard!
The School Art Program, which began in 1964, has more than 300,000 entries each year. These exhibitors are not washing and brushing animals — they are diligently brushing canvas with acrylics or pastels, and shaping sculptures, among other things. Participants range from pre-K through 12th grade. These artists must submit an original project based on Western culture, history or heritage.
On January 5, 2012, One hundred and twenty-five East Bernard ISD students participated in the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo Art Show. Every participant received a certificate of merit, signed by the Show president, and a blue, red or white ribbon for achievement.

Special recognition is bestowed upon selected works and the artists who created them. The “Best of Show” and “Gold Medal” winners have their work prominently displayed in the Show’s Hayloft Gallery throughout the run of the Show, which is February 28 – March 18, 2012. These winners will also receive trophies and free carnival/concert tickets during their awards presentation on March 3rd at Reliant Center.

There were six special recognitions from East Bernard. The high school Best of Show was Kylie Horeclia (11th grade) with Waitin his turn, and the Gold Medalist was Haley Socha (11th grade) with lil’ buckaroo. The junior high Best of Show was Valori Prazak (7th grade) with Hat Snatcher, and the Gold Medalist was Matthew Tovar (8th grade) with House in the hills. The elementary Best of Show was 3rd grader Chris Higginbotham (3rd grade) with Woody Boot, and the Gold Medalist was Paetyn Karasek (2nd grade) with The Country Church.

Congratulations to all the winners!!!
