EBHS Cross Country Teams Win District For 8th Year In A Row

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys and Girls CC Teams.  Both came home yesterday as the  District Champions for the 8th year in a row! The girls competed first and won the District Championship  with a total of 18 points, followed by Brazos with 57 points and Boling in 3rd with 69 points to all qualify for the regional CC Meet.  Individually, East Bernard earned 7 of the top 10 places. All 7 girls earned All District medalist honors.  Jessica Rabius came in first with a course record of 11:55, Liz Guerra 2nd with a time of 12:01, MacKensi Muzik in 4th with a time of 12:46, Jillian Hlavinka 5th in12:59, AJ Navarro 6th in 13:04, Alyssa Schulte 8th in 13:44, and Corrina Navarro 9th in 13:54.   The Varsity boys competed next and also finished as District Champions.  East Bernard  had 34 points, followed by Brazos with 49 points, and Boling with 59 points.  All 3 teams will advance to compete in the Regional CC Meet. In the JV Girls Division, Kasey Kretzschmar came in first to earn the District title.  In the JV Boys race, East Bernard had 3 boys competing. David Martinez came in 2nd overall, followed by Shane Kresta in 3rd, and Brandon Smith in 4th. The Jr. High teams competed in the afternoon at Brazos.  The Jr. High Girls claimed the District Championship with EB racers claiming the top six spots.  Caeli Taylor came in first to earn the District Champion title.  She was followed by Madison Crist in 2nd, Aracely Acevedo in 3rd, Lexi Marik in 4th, Caitlyn Fuechec in 5th Rylan Warncke in 6th, Kara Riley in 8th to all earn District medalist honors.  Kimball Swiger just missed out of medalist honors placing 11th,Grace Tovar was 12th, Libby Hancock 13th,Rina Bowers 15th, Catherine Ellis 16th, Caroline Kunz 17th, Lauren Rieger 18th, Cheyenne Gubert 19th, Camden East 20th,Kendall Douthit 21st, Sydney Sandoval 25th, and Amber Suarez 26th.   The Jr. High Boys competed in the last race and claimed the District Championship too!! Reagan Whitley claimed the District championship, followed by Bo Badger in 4th, Carson Little 6th, Andrew Scmidt in 11th, Barrett Whitley 12th, Keith Atkinsson 15th, Trey Steffens 18th, Kolby Townsend 20th, Angel Zavalla 22nd, Grant Prazk 24th.  Congratulations to all the runners! The Varsity CC teams will compete at the Regional CC Meet at Kate Barr-Ross Park in Huntsville on Monday October 26th.  The Girls will race at 8:30 am, the first race of the day. The 3A Boys Race will follow.
