Austin County Fair Tractor Mechanics Contest:
We had 3 teams, with mostly first timers. With that said, we still faired well. The team of Allen Anderson, Tanner Schmidt, and Trey Schmidt placed 2nd overall, the team of Joseph Vacek, Colton Hundl, and Timothy Gorham placed 3rd overall and the team of Dalton Schmidt, Will Anderson, and Chance Corman placed 8th overall. The team that placed 3rd and 8th places teams were all first time tractor mechanics contestants. The 8th place team got their tractor started but failed to test drive it in time, had they done test drove it in time, they would have placed 4th overall. They will not make that mistake again. There were a total of 17 teams that competed.
The next Livestock Judging contest is in the spring and the next tractor mechanics contest is in December. We are currently practicing with 11 Leadership teams that will be heading to contest onFriday, October 23rd, Saturday, Oct. 24th and than the district contest on Thursday, November 12th.
