The Varsity Girls competed first in the 1A to 4A race. Overall, the girls came in 1st with 26 points followed by St. Agnes with 36 points. There were 12 school competing with 92 runners in the race. Individually, Jessica Rabius came in 1st with a time of 11:58, followed by Liz Guerra in 3rd with a time of 12:06, Jillian Hlavinka in 6th with a time of 12:52, Kensi Muzik 7th with a time of 12:54, AJ Navarro in 9th with a time of 13:04, and Corrina Navarro in 15th with a time of 13:38 to all earn medalist honors.Alyssa Schulte just missed out of a medal in 16th place with a time of 13:48. Kasey Kretzschmar was 28th with a time of 14:43. The Varsity Boys finished 2nd overall behind St. Thomas. St. Thomas had 54 points and East Bernard had 67. There were 12 schools competing in the race with 87 runners. Individually, Jacob Muniz came in 4th with a time of 17:18, Blaine Whitley 9th with a time of 17:33 to both earn medalist honors. Russell Zahradnik was 17th in 18:02, Isaac Ortiz 21st in 18:07, David Martinez 33rd in 18:42, Jacob 33rd in 18:51, Jackson Barta 49th in 19:19, and Shane Kresta 59th in 20:06. Brandon Smith raced in the JV race finishing 27th in 21:08. The Jr. High teams also competed. The Jr. High girls placed 2nd overall with Reading Jr. High coming in 1st with 34 points, and East Bernard 2nd with 46 points. There were 11 teams in the Jr. High race with 112 runners competing. Individually, Caeli Taylor placed 1st with a time of 13:33, Aracely Acevedo was 5th in 14:39, Madison Crist was 12th in 14:54, Rylan Warncke was 13th in 14:56, and Grace Tovar was 15th in 15:01 to all earn medalist honors. Kara Riley was 25th in 15:55, Rina Bowers was 34th in 16:39, Lauren Rieger was 35th in 16:46, Katherine Ellis 62nd in 18:00, and Sydney Sandoval 80th in 18:55. The Jr. High Boys competed in the fina; race and finished 5th overall out of 14 teams. Bo Badger was the first EB finisher in 22nd, followed by Andrew Dirba in 36th, Andrew Schmidt in 43rd, Keith Atkinsson in 53rd, Angel Zavalla in 55th, Trey Steffens in 65th, Kolby Townsend in 70th, and Christian Rodriguez in 78th place. All competitors faced a tough hilly course and all competed hard. Congratulations to all the runners! All teams will be racing at Brackenridge Park on Saturday for the last meet before the District meet on Oct . 14th at Brazos.
