On Friday, May 5th, four Ag Mechanics students attended the Statewide Invitational Welding & Metal Fabrication Contest at Sam Houston State University. 25 teams from across the state competed in the contest which consisted of 100 question multiple choice test over Welding theory, metallurgy, metal identification, and cutting processes, a shop drawing layout portion, an oxygen/fuel cutting portion with propylene as the fuel gas, and then a welding portion where they had to complete 4 welds with 3 different electrodes.
The team members were Tanner Schmidt, Colton Hundl, Trey Schmidt, and Jonah Korenek. Jonah was 5th High Individual and the team places 5th overall. This is the first contest of its kind that East Bernard FFA has participated in and we were 5th place in the STATE!
