District Cross Country Results


The East Bernard Cross Country teams competed in the District CC meet this past Wednesday at Brazos.  East Bernard came away with the District Championship in all the divisions except for the JV Boys race where we did not field a complete team only having 4 runners competing in the race.  Starting off the morning, the Varsity girls competed first.  Liz Guerra  crossed the finish line first to win the individual District Championship.  She was followed by her team mates Jillian Hlavinka in 3rd, Kensi Muzik in 4th, AJ Navarro in 5th, Gracelyn Martinez in 7th, Brook Petrenella in 8th, and Caitlyn Fuechec in 9th to all  earn District Medalist honors and qualify for the Regional Meet. East Bernard won the team Championship, for the 9th year in a row,  with 20 points, followed by Brazos in 2nd with 48 points, and Rice Cons. in 3rd with 69 points.  All three team will advance to the regional CC meet. The Varsity Boys competed next with East Bernard claiming the District Championship also for the 9th year in a row. East Bernard finished with 29 points, Rice Cons. 2nd with 38 points, and Brazos 3rd with 72 points.  Individually, Isaac Ortiz was the first EB runner to cross the finish line with a 3rd place finish followed by Bo Badger in 4th, Reagan Whitley in 6th, Blaine Whitley in 7th, JJ Talas in 9th, Jacob Wondrash in 10th to all earn District Medalist honors and qualify individually for the Regional Meet. David Martinez finished 12th overall to complete the team of runners. In the JV Girls race, East Bernard finished as the District Champions with 15 points and Rice Consolidated 2nd.  Individually, Aracely Acevedo finished in 1st with Julia Janczak 2nd, Libby Hancock 3rd, Kara Riley 4th, and Alyssa Schulte 5th to all earn medalist honors.  Kendal Douthit finished 10th overall to complete the team placings.  I the JV Boys race, East Bernard had 4 runners competing with 5 needed to complete a team.  Ethan Rejsek finished 1st overall to win the District Championship with Chris Baggett close behind in 2nd, Jackson Barta  in 4th and Brandon Smith in 8th.   In the afternoon, The Jr. High teams competed with the Girls racing first.  East Bernard had 8 out of the top 10 runners.  Madison Muzik finished first to win the District Championship, followed by Madison Crist in 2nd, Samantha Rabius in 3rd,Allison Wondrash in 4th, Maria Avila in 5th, Rylan Warncke 7th, Alejandra Avila 8th, and Rina Bowers in 10th to all earn medalist honors.  Kimball Swiger finished in 11th, Valerie Grigar 14th, Lauren Ware 16th, Emma Alexander 17th, Sophie Morrow 18th, Camden East 19th, Isabel Mathys 20th, Anna Briones 21st, and Emma Potts 23rd to complete the team of EB runners.  In the Boys race,  Andrew Dirba finished first to earn the District title, followed by Barrett Whitley in 3rd, Andrew Schmidt in 4th, Dallas Novicke in 6th,  and Joe Kieler in 9th to all earn medalist honors.  Blake Walters finished in 14th, Eric Bradecich 15th, Charles Boettcher 16th, and Raul Tavarez in 24th to complete the EB team.  East Bernard finished as the District Champion with 17 points followed by Rice in 2nd place with 38 points.  Congratulations to all the runners and teams!  The Varsity Boys and Girls will be competing in the Regional CC Meet next Saturday Oct 29th in Huntsville at Kate Barr-Ross Park to earn a chance to qualify for the State Meet in RoundRock.  The girls will race first at 2:00  followed by the boys at 2:30.
