BRAHMARETTES VS. BOLING

The East Bernard Volleyball teams all finished strong last night against Boling.

Congratulations to the Freshmen volleyball team for completing their season undefeated in district! Last night scores against Boling were 25-20, and 25-10.  They worked hard throughout the entire season to accomplish this goal.

The JV girls played well and finished their 2013 season as District Champs 12-0 and 25-4 Overall!  Very proud of these young ladies!  Defensive leaders:   Sara Demny and Malynn Plunkett.   Offensive leaders:   Brooke Boettcher and Amber Adamceik.  The serving game was taking over by Sara Demny with 14 serves and 1 ace, Kelbi Fortenberry with 6 serves and 2 aces, and Malynn Plunkett with 10 serves.
Scores: 25-14, 25-13
District Record: 12-0
Overall Record: 25-4

The varsity girls also finished strong winning 25-12, 25-12, 25-17.  Sloan Carr did a good job of moving the ball and Kori Slanina had her best hitting percentage yet with a 529.  All of this was made a bit easier by our back line’s passes.  We have something special on this team in that when our bench fills in for any spot, the team on the floor still has confidence in them, and it seems in any given game we can have new stat leaders because the girls continue to work daily in practice.  Although district has ended, we are just beginning our final stage in the volleyball season.  The Brahmarettes will open with Anahuac for the 1st round of playoffs.  The date and destination is still yet to be determined.  We will play on either Monday or Tuesday and are looking for a mutual site.  The girls are looking forward to their continued journey.

Kill leaders – Kori Slanina 10, Rebecca Rabius 9, Ashley Dusek 7
Assist leader – Sloan Carr 25
Dig leader – Dusek 13, Carr 7, Kelly Kubena 6
Aces – Angelica Lopez and Rabius each had 2
Blocks – Dusek 3 solo, Carr 1 solo

Others with stats on offense were Carr and Miranda Lehmann and on defense Amanda Boettcher, Brandy Babin, Melissa Fajkus, and Megan Lee.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16, 2013

The Green Team is excited to announce that once again we will be conducting a computer and technology recycling day. We haven't worked out all the details yet, but save your old, unwanted computers, TVs and other electronics for Saturday, November 16, the day after America Recycles Day. This is a fund raiser for our club so we will have money for our environmental projects. Our prices will be $20 for TVs, $10 for old fashioned computer monitors and $5 for flat screen monitors, computers, printers, and other technology. All hard drives in computers will be securely shredded. The recycling company that we use is Technocycle in Houston. They are 100% e-certified for either reusing or recycling every item taken in. They do not throw anything into landfills and ship nothing overseas.
We will give you more details later, but want to give you a heads-up now. Tell your friends and family. We take most electronic devices in any condition.

EB ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB GOLF TOURNAMENT

Helicopter Golf Ball Drop:

The East Bernard Athletic Booster Club is sponsoring a helicopter golf ball drop! Numbered golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter onto the driving range at River Ridge Golf Club on October 19th following the Annual EBABC Golf Tournament. The 3 balls landing closest to the target win cash prizes. Ticket prices are $10 each or 3 for $25 and can be purchased from booster club officers, golf team members, or at Creative Impressions. You do NOT have to be present to win, however, come out and watch this exciting way to support EB Athletes.

HS VOLLEYBALL

The East Bernard volleyball teams faced the Brazos Cougars on Tuesday night.
The freshmen volleyball team defeated Brazos.
Game 1: 25- 9 Game 2: 25-12
Lindsey Matej had 5 kills and 4 aces, Baylee Jankowski also had 4 aces
Melissa Faykus had 3 digs

The JV girls had a tuff fight all the way through.  The girls played some of the longest rally they had seen this season so far.  We fought hard and in the end wanted it more coming out with the win in 3.  I’m really proud of these girls for fighting through on ever point.   Defensive leader of the game Alyssa Reyes and Offensive leader of the game Brooke Boettcher.
Scores: 17-25, 26-24, 26-24
District Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 18-4

Varsity too had a tough fight, but didn’t finish.  In the two games they won, they controlled the entire game, but a slight let up allowed the Cougars to win beating the Brahmarettes 25-13, 20-25, 23-25, 25-13, 11-15.
The girls are continuing to fight.  They are now 4-1 in district but want more.  It was back in the gym on Wednesday to work on solidifying their game.  All 3 teams will play Boling Friday night.
Kill Leaders – Ashley Dusek 19, Rebecca Rabius 15
Set Assists - Sloan Carr 34
Dig leaders – Ashley Dusek 23, Amanda Boettcher 21
Blocks – Miranda Lehamnn  4 and Kori Slanina 3, each with an added assist block
