EBHS Journalism ILPC and State UIL Results
Over the weekend, we had two of our state contests going on-- Academic UIL and ILPC (Interscholastic League Press Conference).
Friday, Kayla represented East Bernard in the Editorial and Headline Writing contests and unfortunately, all of the 3A writers from Region 3 were present, so Claudia did not get to write in News. This was Kayla and Claudia's second trip to the state meet during their high school career, and even though they did not place this year, we are very proud of their accomplishments and contributions to our journalism department.
Saturday and Sunday, sixteen students attended ILPC. ILPC is where our Newspaper and Yearbook gets judged for Individual Achievement Awards but is also a learning workshop where we have over 108 options on classes to take. These classes help us in planning for next year's productions as well as coming up with new and fresh ideas.
In addition to these individual achievement awards, both the newspaper and the yearbook were awarded the Distinguished Merit Award. Newspaper was also nominated for a STAR award.
