The EB FFA Tractor Tech competed in the State Contest March 19-20th at the Houston Livestock Show. 30 teams from across the state qualified for the contest and completed the 100 question test over tractor engines and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems as well as evaluated 20 tractor components answering 5 questions on each component for a total of another 100 question test.
The EB FFA team of Trey Schmidt, Tanner Schmidt, and Jonah Korenek scored 459 points to qualify for the finals where only the top 10 teams in the state get to debug a tractor. They headed into the finals in 4th place, only 9 points behind first place.
The boys had a little trouble with the debugging portion of the contest but never gave up. We received several compliments on their tenacity and no quit attitude. The boys ended up 10th in the state.
It would have been nice to win or even place higher but nobody can ever take their determination and work ethic away from them. They spent several hours on multiple days of their spring break preparing for the state contest.
