The Brahmarettes traveled to
Palacios over the past two days to take part in their Holiday Tournament. East
Bernard went 3-1 in the tournament and finished in second place. In the opening
game of the tournament the Brahmarettes fell short to a tough Palacios team by
a score of 56-44. Leading scorers were Rebecca Rabius with 13, Kristen Morse
with 6, Mackensi Muzik with 6, Cheslee Karasek with 6, Julia Janczak with 5,
Maycie Atteberry with 4, Sabrina Show with 2, and Cheyenne Novicke with 2. In
their second game of the day, the Brahmarettes used tough defense to beat West
Columbia by a score of 60-21. Leading the charge was Rebecca Rabius with 11,
Julia Janczak with 9, Maycie Atteberry with 7, Emily Kurtz with 6, Cheyenne
Novicke with 6, Sabrina Show with 6, Kristen Morse with 6, Cheslee Karasek with
4, Mackensi Muzik with 3, and Cayln Grymes with 2.
On the second day of the
tournament, the Brahmarettes opened play against Tidehaven. Again, the
Brahmarettes used tough defense to beat a scrappy Tidehaven team 39-20. Leading
scorers were Julia Janczak with 11, Maycie Atteberry with 7, Emily Kurtz with
6, Kristen Morse with 4, Rebecca Rabius with 4, Mackensi Muzik with 2, Cheyenne
Novicke with 2, Cheslee Karasek with 2, and Sabrina Show with 1. In their
second game of the day, the Brahmarettes were in a battle for second place with
Ganado. East Bernard utilized a strong first quarter to cruise to a 47-31
victory and a second-place finish in the tournament. Leading the scorers was
Sabrina Show with 15, Julia Janczak with 10, Kristen Morse with 6, Emily Kurtz
with 4, Rebecca Rabius with 4, Baylee Jankowski with 2, Cheyenne Novicke with
2, Mackensi Muzik with 2, and Maycie Atteberry with 2. The Brahmarettes record
is now 9-8. All 3 team will be back in action on Tuesday, at home, starting at
5:00.
A big congratulations to these
girls on a great tournament. Also, a big congratulations to Sabrina Show for
being selected to the All-Tournament team.
On Friday, the J.V. Girls Basketball Team defeated Shiner
St. Paul 56-24. Emily Kurtz came out with the hot hand by scoring 16 of her 18
pts. In the first quarter. Also scoring for the Brahmarettes were: Blair
Berry-7 pts., Mackensi Muzik and Morgan Kubes-6 pts. each, Logan Goudeau-5,
Lexi Atkinson and Brooke Dirba-4 pts. each, Haley Hoegemeyer, Taylor Bottoms
and Alyssa Schulte-2 pts. each.
The J.V. Girls Basketball team played
Weimar last night in a non district game and their last game before Christmas
break. The girls struggled most of the game with turnovers and missed shots.
The Brahmarettes lead 21-7 at half as Weimar fought back but were defeated by
the Brahmarettes 39-23. Four girls scored for the team: Emily Kurtz-13 pts.,
Dee Dee Smith and Mackensi Muzik- 12 pts. each and Blair Berry with 2 points.
The J.V. girls have a 7-3 record and
will return to action on Jan. 3 when they host Needville at home at 5:00.
