The East Bernard girls basketball team opened up play in the
Schulenburg Tournament with 2 wins, defeating Giddings and Brazos. In their
first game of the tournament the Brahmarettes started out slow but were able to
pull away in the 4th to win by a score of 30-26. Leading scorers for
East Bernard were Sabrina Show with 8, Rebecca Rabius with 7, Julia Janczak
with 5, Maycie Atteberry with 5, Kristen Morse with 3, and Erin Dawson with 2.
In their second game of the tournament, the Brahmarettes
used tough defense to defeat the Brazos Cougars 37-22. Scoring for the
Brahmarettes was Kristen Morse with 10, Rebecca Rabius with 9, Sabrina Show
with 8, Julia Janczak with 7, Cheyenne Novicke with 2, and Erin Dawson with 1.
The two wins bring their overall record to 5-4 on the
season.
In their final game of the Schulenburg tournament, the Brahmarettes of East Bernard defeated Caldwell 68-16. Utilizing stifling defense and a lot of energy, the Brahmarettes jumped out to a 21-4 lead and never looked back. For the first time this year, every team member scored. Leading the scoring was Kristen Morse with 13, Cheslee Karasek with 12, Erin Dawson with 10, Sabrina Show with 8, Julia Janczak with 8, Maycie Atteberry with 6, Baylee Jankowski with 5, Rebecca Rabius with 2, Calyn Grymes with 2, and Cheyenne Novicke with 2. The win improves their overall record to 7-6. The Varsity and JV Maroon will be back in action on Tuesday in Edna beginning at 5:00. The JV White team will play in Palacios at 5:00 on Tuesday.
