EBHS Cross Country Results @ Industrial Invitational
The East Bernard Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Industrial Invitational this past Saturday. The Varsity Girls ran first and won the overall team title with 27 points, followed by Yoakum with 118, Brazos with 128, El Campo with 133, Rice Consolidated with 134, and Industrial with 135. There were 12 teams competing in their Division. Individually, AJ Navarro was the first Brahmarette to cross the finish line in 2nd place, with Kensi Muzik in 3rd, Jillian Hlavinka in 7th, Gracelyn Martinez in 10th, Liz Guerra in 11th, and Caitlyn Fuechec in 14th to all earn medalist honors. Julia Janczak finished 27th and Alyssa Schulte was 41st overall with 100 girls competing in the Varsity race. In the Varsity Boys race, East Bernard finished as the team champion out of 13 teams. They finished with 66 points, followed by Sweeny with 85, Yoakum with 97, Rice Cons. with 112, and Industrial with 119. Individually, Isaac Ortiz finished 12th with Bo Badger a second behind in 13th place to both earn medalist honors. Reagan Whitley was 16th, Blaine Whitley 19th, Jacob Wondrash 26th, David Martinez 28th, JJ Talas 34th, Ethan Rejsek 35th, Chris Baggett 40th, and Jackson Barta 82nd with 108 boys competing in the race. In the JV Girls race, East bernard had 2 girls competing with both earning medalist honors. Aracely Acevedo raced to 1st and Kendall Douthit finished 8th overall with 56 girls competing in the race. In the Jr. High Girls race, East Bernard finally finished as the top team after coming in as the 2nd place team in their three prior meets. East Bernard had 26 points, followed by Bay City with 69, Industrial with 112, Edna with 116, and Brazos with 117 points. There were 9 teams in the JH Girls race. Individually, Madison Muzik was the first EB runner to cross in 2nd place, followed by Madison Crist in 6th, Samantha Rabius in 8th, Alejandra Avila in 9th, Maria Avila in 15th to all earn medalist honors. Allison Wondrash was 16th, Rylyn Warncke 17th, Lauren Ware 20th, Kimball Swiger 21st, Rina Bowers 30th, Emma Alexander 31st, Isabel Mathys 32nd, Sophie Morrow 33rd, Camden East 40th, Callie Dusek 44th, and Emma Potts 47th to finish out the EB runners. There were 94 girls competing in the JH race. In the final race, the East Bernard boys finished 4th as a team with 6 teams competing in the race. Individually, Barrett Whitley was 2nd overall, Andrew Schmidt 12th to both earn medalist honors. Dallas Novicke was 16th, Blake Walters 55th, and Eric Bradecich was 55th.Congratulations to all the runners. The next meet will be Oct. 19th, 2016 at Brazos for the District Meet. The high school teams will run Wednesday morning with the Varsity girls racing first at 9:00 am. The jr. high teams will be racingWednesday afternoon with the JH Girls racing first at 4:30.
