EBHS Cross Country Region III Cross Country Preview Results
The boys and girls Varsity CC teams traveled to Huntsville to compete in the Region lll Cross Country Preview. The course will be the site of the UIL Regional CC meets for Region lll. The boys raced first and finished 7th overall against 28 teams. Giddings was 1st with 70 points, Pollock Central 2nd with 83 points, New Summerfield 3rd with 85, Lufkin Hudson 4th with 111, Mexia 5th with 171, Huntington 6th with 177, and East Bernard 7th with 205 points. Individually, Reagan Whitley was the first East Bernard runner to cross the finish line in 12th place with a time of 18:43, followed by Isaac Ortiz in 38th with 19:35, Bo Badger 50th with 20:07, David Martinez 65th with 20:37, Chris Baggett 72nd with 21:01, Brandon Smith 73rd with 21:06, and Ethan Rejsek 84th with 21:39. There were 180 boys competing in the race. All the runners improved on their times from this course from last year. In the girls race, there were 29 teams competing in our division. East Bernard finished 1st overall with 36 points, followed by Fairfield with 58 points, Lufkin Hudson 3rd with 84 points, Franklin 4th with 102 points, and Giddings 5th with 143 points. Individually, all the girls improved on their times from last year on this course and worked hard to stay with their teammates. Liz Guerra was the first East Bernard runner to cross the finish line in 2nd place with a time of 12:27, followed by AJ Navarro in 6th with 12:54, Jillian Hlavinka 8th with 13:01, Kensi Muzik 9th with 13:05 to all earn medalist honors. Brooke Petrenella was 12th with 13:30, Caitlyn Fuechec 14th with 13:39, Gracelyn Martinez 17th with 13:42, Alyssa Schulte 41st with 14:27, and Julia Janczak 50th with 14:49. There were 181 girls competing in the race. Congratulations to all the runners as all continue to improve as the season progresses. All Cross Country teams, high school and jr. high, will be competing this next Saturday in Shiner at Green Dickson Park located right next to the Shiner Football stadium. The Varsity girls will race first at 8:30, followed by the Varsity boys at 8:55, both JV teams racing at 9:25, and both Jr. high girls and boys racing at 9:50.
