EBJHS Girls District Track Results

Congratulations to our 2016 24AAA JH Brahmarettes District Track Champions! 

Our 7^th and 8^th girls’ teams finished their track season with a final 1^st Place finish to win the District Championship.  The 7^th girls’ team earned 261 points and the 8^th grade girls’ team earned 259 points.  These young girls put together some of their best times and jumps on Saturday, and, as always, our Brahmarettes were very competitive.

Also, congratulations goes out to several individuals for breaking 7^th and 8^th EB records this track season.  The events of 7^th grade EB records that were broken this year were the High Jump, 100m dash, 400m Relay and the 1600m Relay.   Keatan Fortenberry broke the 100m dash with a time of 12.96 at the Rice Meet.  The previous record was 13.58 held by Taniesha Morton (2009) and Leslie Balderas (1997).  Zoey Talas jumped 4’8 in High Jump at the Sealy Meet, sharing the record with Bailey Hlavinka (2011) and Angelica Lopez (2009).  Madison Crist, Keatan Fortenberry, Camryn Whitley and Zoey Talas were a dynamic team of individuals who broke records with outstanding times in both the 400m Relay and the 1600m Relay.  Their 400m Relay time was 52.12 and the previous time was 56.46 held by Paula Lopez, Alicia Toval, Daneshia Johnson, and Roberta Pettit.  Their 1600m Relay time was a 4:20.02 previously set by Morgan Whitley, Kaitlyn Sulak, Deaundra Smith and Cheslee Karasek in 2014.  These two record breaking times were run at the District meet in Van Vleck this Saturday. 

The events that the 8^th grade EB records were broken in were Pole Vault, Long Jump, 800m Relay and the 300m Hurdles.  Brooke Petrenella vaulted 8’ at the Sealy Meet, sharing the record with Kristen Morse (2013).  The 800m Relay team made up of Savannah Goudeau, Tori Koenig, Kara Riley and Brooke Petrenella ran a 1:56.17 at the Edna Meet breaking the previous 1:56.74 record in 1985 held by Sandra Davis, Rachelle Florus, Lisa Smaistrla and Pashawna Williams.  The final records broken this year were by Lexi Marik in the Long Jump and 300 Hurdles.  These two records were both broken on the Van Vleck track.  On March 11^th Lexi ran a 49.88 in the 300m Hurdles previously held by Mackenzie Muzik’s 50.9 in 2014.  At the District meet this weekend she had an outstanding jump of 16’5 ½”.  The previous jump was 16’ set by Kaneesha Smith (2010).  These young ladies did an amazing job for the junior high track program along with the entire Brahmarette Team.
