EBHS Cross Country Regional Results
Monday, The East Bernard CC Teams were in Huntsville to compete in the Regional CC Meet. Instead of facing the normal course conditions, the runners were facing a sludge run. It was the toughest course conditions I have seen in my 13 years of coaching Cross Country. Times were insignificant in the race. Position and placing would determine the outcome. The teams that remained mentally tough throughout the race would be the teams that would get to advance to the State Meet. The Girls raced first with the plan to get a good start knowing that it would be tough to pass once the race started. There were not many places to pick up your pace because of the course conditions. The Lady Brahmarettes stayed mentally tough and earned the Regional Championship. East Bernard won with 71 points, followed by Eustace with 93 points, Franklin placed 3rd with 129 points, and Little River Academy was 4th with 156 points. All 4 teams will advance to the State CC Meet. Individually, Jessica Rabius placed 3rd and Liz Guerra was 4th to earn Regional Medalist honors. MacKensi Muzik was 11th to earn All-Region Honors, Jillian Hlavinka placed 19th, AJ Navarro was 45th, Alyssa Schulte was 48th, and Corrina Navarro was 72nd overall. There were 172 girls racing representing 24 teams. In the Boys race, East Bernard ran in a pretty good pack. Caleb Moseley finished 25th, Jacob Muniz placed 30th, Russell Zahradnik was 47th, Blaine Whitley 48th, Isaac Ortiz 51st, Jacob Wondrash 54th, and Jackson Barta 83rd. East Bernard had to pick off some runners in the last stretch to earn a chance to advance to the State Meet. Eustace finished in 1st place with 50 points, Pollack Central in 2nd with 83 points, Whitney in 3rd with 137 points, and East Bernard in 4th with 174 points. East Bernard edged out Elysian Fields by 8 points to earn the last spot to advance to State. Congratulations to all the runners who represented East Bernard well! Both teams will compete in the State Meet on Saturday, Nov. 7th in RoundRock at Old Settler's Park. The girls will race at 8:30 followed by the boys race at 9:00.
