EBHS Cross Country @ Brazos Invitational Results



The East Bernard Cross Country Teams finally got to race this past Saturday in the Brazos Invitational. The past 2 meets were cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey. In the first race, the Varsity girls earned the championship with all ten girls placing in the top 15 spots. Individually, Jessica Rabius placed 2nd, Kensi Muzik 3rd, Jillian Hlavinka 4th, Aracely Acevedo 6th, Gracelyn Martinez 8th, Caitlyn Fuechec 9th, Brooke Petrenella 10th to all earn medalist honors. Taylor Swoboda finished 12th, Logan Goudeau 13th, and Julia Janczak 15th to round out the team places. The Brahmarettes placed 1st with 23 points followed by Brazos with 49, Rice with 94, El Campo 96, Palacios 123, and Hempstead 163.
In the Varsity Boys race, Bo Badger won the championship spot followed by Isaac Ortiz in 2nd. Reagan Whitley finished 6th with Andrew Dirba close behind in 7th place and Colby Townsend in 10th, to all earn medalist honors. Jacob Wondrash was 17th, Ethan rejsek was 22nd, David Martinez placed 30th, Barrett Whitley 48th, and Jackson Barta 49th to complete the boys placings. The Boys earned the championship with 26 points, followed by Palacios with 79, Rice with 93, Concordia with 97, St. Thomas with 97, along with Royal, Hempstead, and El Campo as the other competing teams.
The JV girls had earned 8 out of the top 9 spots to win the JV title. Madison Crist placed 1st overall followed by Libby Hancock in 2nd, Kara Riley in 3rd,Kimball Swiger in 6th, Lexi Marik in 7th, Paige Nixon in 8th, and Caroline Kunz in 9th to all earn medalist honors.Kendall Douthit placed 14th, Cana Mathys was 16th, and Camden East placed 17th to complete the JV team.
The JV boys did not field a team, but Ricky Rico place 4th to earn medalist honors with Cade Gravonovich finished 12th, and Jake Nethery 22nd for the Brahmas.
In the JH girls race, 7 girls earned medalist honors. Madison Muzik won the JH title, followed by Lexi Warncke in 2nd, Samantha Rabius in 4th, Emma Alexander in 6th, Maria Avila in 7th, Lauren Ware in 8th, and Alejandra Avila in 10th. Also competing for East Bernard was Isabel Mathys in 13th, Sophie Morrow in 15th, Ella Grymes in 17th, Nicole Sanchez in 21st, and Erin Ellis in 22nd. The JH girls earned the team championship as well.
In the JH Boys race, Mason Crist finished 4th, Dallas Novitcke 11th, Mason Winkler 20th, and Joe Kieler placed 24th to finish out the East Bernard runners.
Congratulations to all the runners! All the teams will be competing in Shiner next Saturday at Green Dickson Park with the Varsity girls racing at 8:30 am
