EBHS Volleyball Vs. Heampstead Results

The Brahmarettes traveled to District Hempstead tonight and came home with all three wins!

The Varsity girls came into the game strong and finished strong with the win in 3.  Kill leaders in tonight's game: Sara Demny and Sabrina Show both with 10, Rebecca Rabius 6, Megan Lee with 5 and Samantha Show with 3 kills.  Defensive leader in tonight's game: Amber Adamcik with 6 digs.  Your set assist leader is: Alyssa Reyes with 14 followed by Rebecca Rabius at 9 and Hadley Carr, Lindsey Matej, and Samantha Show all contributing 1.  Our Serve game was big tonight with Lindsey Matej rolling out 19 service points, Amber Adamcik right behind with 15, Sara Demny and Sabrina both with 12 points, Alyssa Reyes at 8 and Rebecca Rabius with 7.

EBHS Cross Country @ Weimer Invitational Results

The East Bernard Cross Country teams competed in the Weimar Invitational this past Saturday.  The Varsity Boys finished 2nd overall behind Luling, the defending State Champion for the past 4 years. Industrial finished 3rd and Lockhart 4th out of 9 teams.  Individually, Brian Barta was the first EB runner in to finish 9th, followed by Jacob Muniz in 10th, John Failla in 11th, Blaine Whitley 13th, and Caleb Moseley 16th to finish out the scoring for East Bernard as well as all earn Medalist honors. Michael Zapalac was 24th and Russell Zahradnik 26th to complete the Varsity runners competing out of  86 runers.  The boys ran in a tight group with a span of only 20 seconds separating the top 5 runners.  The Varsity girls claimed the Top spot for the 3rd time this season.  They finished  with 32 points, followed by Weimar in 2nd with 90 points, and St. Paul in 3rd with 90 points as well. Eleven teams competed in the Varsity Girls Division.  Jessica Rabius claimed the overall individual championship with Liz Guerra 3rd, Jillian Hlavinka 8th, AJ Navarro 9th, MacKensi Muzik 11th, Kasey Kretszchmar 14th, Carson Swoboda 16th, Corrina Navarro 17th to all earn medalist honors.  Emily Barboza was 29th, Angie Cruz 37th, and Lexi Atkinson 61st completed the East Bernard team with 97 girls competing in the race.  In the JV boys race, East Bernard did not have a complete team, but individually Stephen Castillo was 13th, Jacob Wondrash 16th, and Shane Kresta 20th to all earn medalist honors with Anthony Gil finishing 32nd.  The Jr. High Girls finished 2nd overall behind St. Paul but ahead of Lockhart who was 3rd. There were 11 teams in the Jr. High girls race with 123 girls racing.  Individually, Brooke Petrenella was 4th overall, followed by Caeli Taylor who placed 13th, Aracely Acevedo in 15th, and Alyssa Schulte who was 20th to all earn medalist honors.  Lexi Marik was 21st, Kara Riley 24th, Kendall Douthit 69th, Amber Suarez 75th, and Abby Sellers 77th to complete the Jr. High Girls team. The Jr. High Boys finished 3rd overall in a tight race between the Brahmas, Lockhart , and Luling.  Lockhart placed 1st with 63 points, Luling 2nd with 68 points, and East Bernard 3rd with 73 points. There were 11 teams competing in the Jr. High Boys race with 110 boys racing.  Indiviually, Reagan Whitley finished 4th overall, followed by Joey Stearman in 11th, Isaac Ortiz in 16th, and  Grady Prazak in 20th to all earn medalist honors.  Jackson Barta was 22nd, AJ Lazo 24th, Bo Badger 27th, Patrick Hlavinka 35th, Joe Petrenella 37th, Trey Steffen 45th, Keith Atkinson 69th, Doug Grymes 70th, Angel Zavala 79th, and Jared Hlavinka 86th to complete the EB boys team.  Congratulations to all the runners !

The JH Brahmarette volleyball teams swept their district opponent, the Hempstead Bobcats, last night.  All 4 teams played very well defeating Hempstead in 2 straight games in each match.  We are very proud of the girls.  

Our next matches will be next Monday, October 6th in Bellville against the Brahmanettes.

The EBJH volleyball teams completed a Monday night sweep of district opponent Brazos JH. 

7B took down Brazos in three tough games (25-10, 18-25, 25-19). The Brahmarettes win over the Cougarettes improved their record to 3-3 on the season and 2-0 in district.

The 8B team conquered Brazos in straight games (25-4, 25-8). 8B moves to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in district play.

In the 7A match-up, it was a great offensively balanced fight that led to 3 high intense games (21-25, 30-28, 25-21) with our Brahmarettes coming out on top! 7A is now 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in district.

8A took Brazos in 2 straight games but not with out a fight. Both teams battled defensively and offensively. The key to the Brahmarette's win came from the service line along with great team play! 8A now has a season record of 5-2 and in 3-0 in district.

Cross Country Shiner Invitational Results

The East Bernard Cross Country Teams competed at the Shiner Invitational this past weekend. The Varsity Boys team came away with their first win of the season placing 1st in the 3A-5A Division  ahead of Lockhart in 2nd and Sealy in 3rd, with 12 teams competing. All six of the boys competing placed in the top 20 to earn medalist honors.  Caleb Moseley was the first EB runner in, placing 3rd overall, followed by Jacob Muniz in 7th, John Failla in 10th, Brian Barta in 11th, Blaine Whitley in 13th, and Michael Zapalac in 16th with 105 boys competing in the race. The boys ran well with all of the harriers finishing within a 1:12 of each other.  The Varsity Girls  came away with their 2nd championship of the season.  The girls placed 1st  overall with Goliad earning 2nd place, and Lockhart 3rd.  There were 14 teams competing in the 3A-5A Division. Jessica Rabius was the 1st runner in overall to win the top spot.  She was followed by Liz Guerra in 3rd place Jill Hlavinka in 7th, AJ Navarro in 9th, Kasey Kretszchmar in 11th, MacKensie Muzik in12th, Corrina Navarro in 16th to all earn medalist honors. Carson Swoboda was 22nd overall and Angie Cruz 34th  with 185 girls competing in the race.  In the JV races, East Bernard did not field a complete team, but had individuals competing.  In the JV girls race, Lexi Atkinson earned medalist honors placing 8th overall.  In the JV boys race,Isaac Aguilar was the 1st East Bernard runner in placing 28th, Stephen Castillo placed 44th, Jacob Wondrash placed 45th, and  Anthony Gil finished in 55th place with 65 runners competing.  The Jr. High girls team placed 9th with Aracely Acevedo placing 10th overall and Alyssa Schulte 18th to both earn Medalist honors. Amber Suarez placed 72nd, Kendall Douthit 84th, and Abby Sellers 96th with 123 girls competing in the Jr. High race.  The Jr. High boys won the team championship edging out Lockhart by 3 points to come away with the win.   Reagan Whitley was the first harrier in to win the top overall position coming in 15 seconds ahead of the next runner.  Joey Stearman was the next EB runner placing 8th, followed by AJ Lazo in 10th,  Issac Ortiz in 12th, Grady Prazak 14th, and  Jackson Barta 17th to all earn medalist honors. Alex Lopez placed 25th, Bo Badger 30th, Keith Atkinson 48th, Ben Sandoval 57th, Angel Zavala 69th, and Jared Hlavinka 88th to complete the East Bernard runners.  There were 115 boys running in the Jr. High boys race.  Congratulations to all the runners.  The Shiner course is a challenging course, with a steep 400m meter hill near the end of the race. All the runners competed hard to help their team finish strong.

EBJH 7th Grade Football Vs Schulenburg

East Bernard 8th grade open the home football season with a strong 50-0 victory over Schulenburg.
1st quarter
Christian Alcalar opened the scoring with a short run the 2 point conversion failed.
Later in the quarter Destin Schuler found the end zone and Schuler also added the 2 point conversion.
2nd quarter
Schuler scored his second touchdown of the night and Kyler Marek added the 2 point conversion.

3rd quarter
Destin Schuler scored his 3rd touchdown of the night and Christian Alcalar scored the 2 pt conversion.
Isaac Munoz scored the second touchdown of the quarter and the conversion failed.
Isaac Munoz scored again on a sweep for his second touchdown of the night and Justin Bosse added the extra points.
4th quarter
Isaac Muniz scored his third touchdown in the 4th quarter making the final score 50-0.
The offense was guided by qb’s Hunter Goudeau and Joey Stearman.
The offense was aided through the air with Destin Schuler catching the only pass of the night.
Defensive standouts were Sam Sims, Ronnie Blunston, Christian Alcalar. Justin Bosse, and Kyler Marek.


Next game is September 25th vs Hempstead in  East Bernard.

EBHS JV Football Vs Schulenburg

The East Bernard JV Football team traveled to Schulenburg last night and came away with

an outstanding 34-0 win over the Shorthorns. It was a great team effort with every Brahma

contributing to the win. Leading the charge offensively was Cody Lehmann who finished with

over 100 yards receiving and 2 TD catches both from QB Thomas Long. Thomas Long had the

2 Touchdowns through the air and also contributed a TD run of his own. Braden Janecek, and

Trey Schmidt also found the end zone for the Brahmas, while Will Anderson and Zachary Gohlke

ran in a 2-pt conversion each to total 34 points for East Bernard. Defensively the Brahmas were

stout allowing only 5 first downs the entire game. Leading the charge on defense was Logan

Baird, and Victor Tichacek. Also contributing to the shutout was Kyle Mikes, Jared Fuechec,

Quinn Dusek, Keaton McDonald, Tyler Bagby, Wade Hunter, and Jacob Guthman. Overall it was

a great effort by the Brahmas; this win improves their season record to 3-1. They will be back in

action at home, next Thursday, September 26 against Hempstead. Please come out and support

your East Bernard JV Football team.

EBHS Volleyball VS Brazos Results

Last night our Brahmarettes took on District Brazos.  Our Freshman fell a bit short with a rocky start. Scores: 15-25, 18-25.  Our JV girls came in and took two games from Brazos.  Scores: 25-23, 25-22. 

3 up and 3 down for our Varsity girls!  Our Brahmarettes had the determination last night to push hard each point and came out with a BIG win in 3.  Offensive leaders in last night game were Sara Demny with 10 kills, Rebecca Rabius with 7 and Sabrina Show with 7 kills.  Offensively we were able to put multiple points on the board with Samantha Show, Megan Lee and Lindsey Matej contributing 3 kills each and Amber Adamcik with a back row kill.  Defensive leaders in the game were Amber Adamcik and Sabrina Show both picking up 9 digs.  Our setters in last nights game, Rebecca Rabius and Alyssa Reyes contributed 33 set assist.  
Scores: 25-20, 25-20, 25-18
Overall Record: 21-12
District Record: 3-0

We want to thank the table workers and line judges in last nights game.  We also want to thank all our support from the Cheerleaders and Fans!  Thank you for all coming out and supporting our Brahmarettes!

EBHS Cross Country Results- Brazos Invitational

The Boys and Girls Cross Teams competed in the Brazos Invitational this past weekend. The Varsity Boys placed 4th overall out of 22 teams, with Katy Tompkins winning the meet, followed by Foster HS in 2nd, and St. Thomas Episcopal in 3rd.  Caleb Moseley was the first EB harrier in placing 13th overall, Jacob Muniz placing 24th,John Failla 34th, Michael Zapalc 60th, and Russell Zahradnik 69th overall with 177 boys competing in the Varsity race. The Varsity Girls placed 2nd overall with Needville claiming the Championship by 2 points. Needville earned the top spot with 58 points to East Bernard's 60 points. There were 13 teams competing in the Girls Varsity Division.  Jessica Rabius placed 2nd overall in a very competitive time of 12 : 35.  She was edged out by less than a second for the top spot by Lynette Amaram from Stafford High School.  Liz Guerra placed 6th overall. Both girls earned medalist honors.  AJ Navarro placed 16th, Jillian Hlavinka 21st, MacKensi 23rd, Corrina Navarro 24th, Kasey Kretszchmar 27th, Carson Swoboda 36th, Angie Cruz 43rd, and Emily Barboza 46th, with 129 runners competing in the Varsity race.  In the JV girls race, Lexi Atkinson placed 11th, and Taylor Swoboda 20th with 114 girls running in the JV race. For the JV Boys race, Isaac Aguilar placed 36th, Jacob Wondrash 67th, Anthony Gil 68th, and Shane Kresta 73rd with 114 boys competing in the JV boys race. Both Jr. High Girls and Boys teams earned the Championship spot in their respective divisions.  In the Jr. High Girls race, Brooke Petrenella came in 4th overall for East Bernard, followed by Aracelly Acevedo in 6th, Alyssa Schulte in 9th, Caeli Taylor in 10th, to all earn Medalist Honors.  Lexi Marik placed 13th, Indy Reeves 25th, Kara Riley 27th, Caitlyn Fuechec 40th, Kendall Douthit 50th, and Abby Sellers 58 with 82 girls competing in the Jr. High Girls Division.  Reagan Whitley was the first East Bernard harrier placing 2nd overall out of 111 boys racing.  Joey Stearman placed 5th, and Isaac Ortiz 9th to also earn medalist honors.  Grady Prazak placed 12th, Jackson Barta 15th, AJ Lazo 25th, Bo Badger 27th, Alex Lopex 36th, Ethan Rejsek 41st, Trey Steffen 53rd, Ryan Reyna 54th, Keith Atkinson 56th, Ben Sandoval 59th, Angel Zavala, 61st, and Doug Grymes 63rd to complete the roster of East Bernard racers.  Congratulations to all the runners.  All competed hard on a muddy and slippery course and represented East Bernard well.

Starting out the night our 7C and 8C competed in an inter squad game.  8C came out on top, but not without a fight.  The scores were 25-16, 25-21.  Following the inter squad game our 7A and 8A teams competed in their second district match-up of the 2014 season.  Our Brahmarettes took advantage of their home court beating the Hitchcock Bulldogs.  The 7A won 25-14,  25-11 and 8A won 25-6, 25-16.  The Brahmarettes will be back in action on the road next Monday, September 22nd, to take on the Brazos Cougarettes.

EBJH 8th Grade Football Vs Yoakum Results

The first quarter scoring was started by Destin Schuller when we took the ball from a Yoakum

back and ran 70 yards for a touchdown. The 2pt conversion was added by Christian Alcalar.

The second quarter scoring took off when Kyler Marek ran 90 yards for the second Brahma

score, the conversion was not good. Later in the second quarter Christian Alcalar scored and

Destin Schuller added the 2pt conversion.

In the third quarter Destin Schuller made a short run to make the the score 28-0. While the

Kill leaders tonight were Rebecca Rabius 15 kills, Sara Demny 9, Sabrina Show 9, Samantha Show 3, Lindsey Matej 3, Megan Lee 3, Amber Adamcik 2, and Malynn Plunkett 1.  Sarah Demny contributed 20 service points.  Defensive leaders tonight were Amber Adamcik with 17 digs and Sabrina Show with 15.  Setters in tonight's game, Alyssa Reyes, Rebecca Rabius and Hadley Carr allowed our hitters to be dominate in our offensive game.  Very proud of the way our EB Brahmarettes played!

EBHS Volleyball VS Sealy Results


Last night our Brahmarettes traveled to non-district Sealy to compete with all three teams. 
Our Freshman and JV girls played well together and came home with two wins! 
Freshman scores: 20-25, 25-16, 15-5
JV Scores: 25-15, 25-13

Our Varsity Lady's had a tough fight against a strong offensive team from Sealy.  We unfortunately suffered in getting points on the board and were shy of our offensive potential in only contributing 14 kills with our typically average in the high 30s.  The girls fought till the end but did leave with the lose in three. 
Scores: 18-25, 19-25, 18-25
Kill leaders: Rebecca Rabius with 6, Sabrina Show 3, Sara Demny 3, and Samatha Show with 2.
Defensive leaders: Rebecca Rabius with 12, Amber Adamcik 11, Sabrina Show 7, and Alyssa Reyes with 7.  Sabrina Show lead our Serve Receive game with 21 and Amber to follow with 18. 
Rebecca Rabius and Alyssa Reyes both contributed 6 set assist. 
District Record: 2-0
Overall Record: 19-12

Our next match will be against non-district Yoakum on Friday @ home, all three teams.  The Freshman game with be held in the JH gym at 430 and JV and Varsity starting at 430 in the new HS gym.

EBJH volleyball teams traveled to Iago on Monday for their district opener.  The 7th and 8th grade A and B teams did an awesome job starting their district play with wins.  Despite the hard fought effort, the 7C team fell to Boling in straight sets.  We are proud of all the teams for their performance and effort throughout the night.

Tonight our EB Brahmarettes played a great game against competitor Schulenburg for a non district game.  Our girls fought hard and played 3 tough games only to come a little short of the win.  Kill Leaders tonight were Sabrina Show with 15 pts, Sara Demny with 8, and Rebecca Rabius with 8.  Defensive leaders tonight were Amber Adamcik with 13 digs, Alyssa Reyes with 13 digs, and Sabrina Show with 8.  Our next game will be against Sealy (non-district) Away 5, 6, & 7on Tuesday the 9th.

EBHS Cross Country- SFA Invitational Results

The Boys and  Girls Cross Country Teams competed in Nacogdoches this past weekend at the SFA Invitational.  The Boys placed 4th out of 15 teams. with Hudson placing 1st,, Lufkin High 2nd, and Edgewood 3rd. There were 15 teams competing in the boys race.  Caleb Moseley was the first runner in for East Bernard in 17th place, followed by Jacob Muniz in 22nd, John Failla in 30th, Brian Barta in 34th, Michael Zapalac in 37th, Russell Zahradnik in 39th, and Blaine Whitley in 40th. There were 116 runners in the race. The girls team placed 1st out of 16 teams to win the Invitational.  Jessica Rabius placed 2nd overall followed by Liz Guerra in 5th, Jillian Hlavinka in 9th, AJ Navarro in 10th to all earn medalist honors.  Corrina Navarro placed 14th,  Mackensi Muzik placed 24th, Angie Cruz was 26th, Emily Barboza 38th, and Carson Swoboda  54th out of 121 runners competing in the girls race.  Congratulations to all the boys and girls!!  They will be competing in Brazos this weekend along with the Junior High and Junior Varsity teams.- Coach S.Walters

EBISD Flex Day Criteria

ALL EBISD students are required[1] to attend the four flex days (June 1-4, 2015) if any of the following criteria are not met.  Please see below for the criteria per campus. Attending flex days will not overrule Grade Placement Committee decisions or state law regarding promotion or retention.  State compulsory attendance laws pertain to all flex days. If you have any questions regarding the flex days, please contact your campus principal.


Elementary:

·         Must meet the state mandated 90% attendance rate
·         Must pass all core[2] classes for the year with a minimum grade of 70%
·         STAAR[3] – Must pass math, reading, and writing
·         TELPAS[4]– Must show measurable progress
·         TPRI[5]– Must be developed in all areas
Junior High:

·         Must meet the state mandated 90% attendance rate
·         Must pass all state mandated tests
·         Must pass all core classes for the year
·         ESL[6] Students must show measurable progress
High School:

·         Must receive full credit in all core classes
·         Must Pass all state mandated tests
·         Must meet the state mandated 90% attendance rate
