HS BASEBALL RESULTS

The Brahmas took on the visiting Rice Raiders friday night and improved their district record to 5-1 with a 15-2 victory. Kyle Hlavinka, Garrett Polak, and Cole Koeppen pitched a combined 1 hitter to help the Brahmas in their quest for a district win. 

Leading the way offensively were Cole Koeppen with 3 hits, one single and two doubles, and Justin Mcguire with 2 hits, a single and a triple and  Kyle Hlavinka and Tyler Sulak who each hit a homerun. Koeppen, Mcguire, and Aschenbeck all scored 3 runs each. Also helping the Brahmas in their victory were Nathan Hlavinka and Kyle Hlavinka who each had 3 runs batted in.

The Brahmas travel to Van Vleck on Tuesday to take on the Leopards at 7:00 pm.

OAP Advances/EB 1st in UIL

Congratulations goes out to the HS Academic team for winning the district meet!
Also, congrats to the One Act Play for advancing to the area round.



JV Maroon Baseball

The JV Maroon team finished a strong showing going 2-1 on the weekend. On Friday afternoon the Brahmas offense exploded beating Rice 22-0. Kyle Socha put the cherry on top with his second homerun of the season. On Saturday the team traveled to Sweeny and split two games. The first game the Brahmas lost a close 6-5 ball game. The second game the Brahmas bounced back using timely hitting and good pitching to beat Sweeny 6-3. Thank you for your continued support for these young men.

EBHS STUDENTS FOR LIFE DIAPER DRIVE

The East Bernard High School Pro Life group is holding a charity drive benefiting The Pregnancy Resource Center of Fort Bend. The center provides christian counseling and medical screening for women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. Their goal is to help women choose life for their baby while providing care free of judgement.

Please consider donating a package of diapers to help our Pro Life group reach their goal of 1000 diapers! Diapers may be dropped off at the High School office at your convenience. Our group will personally deliver the diapers to the center. Email emily.gertson@ebisd.org for more info.

CONGRATULATIONS GRANT ASCHENBECK

Congratulations goes out to Grant Aschenbeck!! Grant was selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association North-South All-Star Football game this summer in San Antonio. The teams are selected by Texas High School coaches from all the Texas High School seniors in the state. This is a huge honor for Grant. Congratulate him when you see him.

DISTRICT TENNIS

Congratulations to the entire varsity tennis team.  Every member of the team came home with a medal!!  Both the girls and boys brought home the overall District Championship.

The team qualified 11 out 16 athletes to the Regional Tournament in San Marcos on April 16 &17th.

Placing first for East Bernard were:
Brandy Babin and Ashley Dusek in girls doubles
Daniel Garza and Nathan Hlavinka in boys doubles 
Karen Johnston and Trevor Cook in mixed doubles 
Blake Hlavinka in boys singles.

Runners up and still qualifying for EB were
Erin Cullers and Jonathan Hlavinka in mixed doubles
Rachel Polak in girls singles 
Mason Boettcher in boys singles.

Brent Babin and Josh Mica are alternates in boys doubles placing 3rd

The JV tennis team also did well in District.
In girls singles, 1st Valori Prazak, 2nd Kirsten Caveness, and 3rd KK Linder
In girls doubles, 1st Sarah Fajkus & Lindsey Matej, 2nd Malynn Plunkett & Amber Adamcik, and 3rd Katelyn Leonards and Kasey Kretschmeyer.
In boys singles, Russell Zahradnik placed 2nd,  Quinn Dusek and Bo Berry will play for 3rd.
And in mixed Cheyenne Novicke and Brent Vacek placed 3rd.

Both the girls and boys also brought home the JV District Championship

7th GRADE GIRLS TRACK RESULTS

The 7th girls JH track team competed in the Rice meet last night and came away with 2nd place scoring 136 points behind Hallettsville.  The girls did a great job.  Our next meet will be Saturday, April 5th at Rice for the District Meet.

The 8th girls JH track team competed in the Rice meet last night and came home as Team Champions with 181 points.  The girls did a great job and are ready to head into District competition Saturday, April 5th at Rice.

It is that time again!!! Butter Braids can be purchased from any Yearbook/Newspaper staff member.

HS BOYS BASEBALL

The East Bernard Brahmas defeated the Hitchcock Bulldogs last Friday night by the score of 10-0.

The Brahmas scored twice in the second inning to take the lead and then exploded in the 4th inning with 7 runs to extend the lead to 9-0. The Brahmas put the game away in the top of the fifth with an RBI from Justin Mcguire to make the game 10-0 and win the game by the mercy rule. Justin Mcguire and Tyler Sulak led the offense for the Brahmas with each having a single and two RBI's
 
Winning pitcher for the Brahmas was Tyler Sulak who got 5 strikeouts in 4 innings. Cole Koeppen came in relief in the bottom of the 5th inning and struck out the first three batters he faced.

The Brahmas now have a district record of 4-1 and a 9-4 season record.  Come support the Brahmas as they take on the Rice Raiders on Friday night at 7:00 pm in East Bernard

CONGRATULATIONS to the Varsity Girls who raced to another Team Championship in Van Vleck last night. The Brahmarettes outdistanced the 2nd place team by 87 pts.

JV SOFTBALL

The JV softball team defeated the Boling Bulldogs 8-2 on Tuesday, 3/18/14. The girls are now 2-0 in district and will continue district play Friday at 5 in Brazos.

"Anatomy of Gray" Performance

The High School One Act Play, "Anatomy of Gray", will not be doing a school performance before we go to district competition on March 29, However, we have the incredible opportunity to put on a FREE public performance (AKA "dress rehearsal") at Wharton's Plaza Theater for parents, teachers, and community members who would like the chance to see the production and support our students!  It will be Monday, March 24 at 7 PM at the Plaza Theater in downtown Wharton.  We really hope you can come out to support us. No Admission Cost.

Also, our actual competition is at Rice High School at 5 PM on Saturday, March 29.  The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors.  

JV Baseball, March 18

The JV Maroon baseball team traveled to Boling yesterday afternoon and came away with a 10-2 victory over the Bulldogs. It was a great all-around team effort and puts the JV at 2-1 in district play. We are in the process of finding a JV game for Friday, we will send out information as soon as we find a game. 

BRAHMAS VS BOLING

The East Bernard Brahmas traveled to Boling and battled the Bulldogs in a district rival baseball game last night. 
The Brahmas jumped out to an early lead with 3 runs on 4 hits in the first inning. Derrick Rucka and Justin McGuire started the big inning with back to back base hits.  Cole Koeppen then follow it up with base clearing triple. Caemen Mayfield then hit a double that brought the third run across the plate. Koeppen drove in 2 more runs in the third and another one in the fourth inning. 
  
The Brahmas only gave up one run on 7 hits in a combined pitching effort from Kyle Hlavinka and Derrick Rucka. Great job by the Brahmas in defeating the Bulldogs 6-1 and moving their district record to 3-1.  
 
Next game will be in Hitchcock this Friday night. Thank you for all your support.

Grant Aschenbeck Received Honor

Grant Aschenbeck was recently named to the 2014 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All Region Team.
This is a great accomplishment being recognized by the Coaches of Region IV for a great season and helping the Brahmas to a memorable season.

Another Brahma Win

The East Bernard Brahmas defeated the Brazos Cougars 12-2 on Thursday. It was the Brahmas third district game in four days. The Brahmas district record is now 2-1.
Leading the way offensively were Derrick Rucka and Nathan Hlavinka who each got  4 hits. Five of those 8 hits being doubles. The Brahmas ended up with 17 hits in all. Other players leading the charge were Grant Aschenbeck, Cole Koeppen, and Caemen Mayfield, each with two hits a piece.

Winning pitcher was Tyler Sulak who gave up four hits while only giving up two runs. Derrick Rucka gave up 1 hit in two innings to close out the game.
It was a good win for the good guys.
Come out and support the Brahmas on Tuesday, March 18th as they travel to take on the Boling Bulldogs at 7:00 pm.

Brahma Baseball

The Brahmas opened up district play with a win against the Van Vleck Leopards with a score of 8-5 this past Monday. Garrett Polak and Tyler Sulak pitched and combined for the win. Leading hitters were Justin Mcguire, Caemen Mayfield and Kyle Hlavinka.

The Brahmas traveled to Danbury on Tuesday and suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 loss that ended in the bottom of the 7th with a walk off homer by Danbury. Kyle Hlavinka pitched a great game and went the distance. A balk and a couple of errors proved to be the difference in the back and forth struggle between the two teams. 

The Brahmas take on the Brazos Cougars in an early game on Thursday in East Bernard. Come out and support the Brahmas as they try to move their district record to 2-1.

JV Maroon Team Results

Over the weekend, the JV Maroon team competed in the Weimer tournament. On Friday they beat La Grange 7-3 and then later that night beat Hallettsville 14-4. They were scheduled to play in the championship game on Saturday but got rained out. Nonetheless, the JV team played well, going 2-0 over the weekend, beating two defending state champion programs.

JV Softball wins Sweeny Tournament

The JV softball team competed in the Sweeny softball tournament on March 7th and 8th. They played two games on Friday falling to Needville in the first game 5-10. The Brahmarettes then defeated Wharton in the second game 20-1.
On Saturday the Brahmarettes opened bracket play facing West Columbia. The Brahmarettes defeated West Columbia 8-4 to secure a spot in the championship game.The Brahmarettes came out ready to play in the championship game against a tough Angleton team. Strong defense, hitting, and an overall team effort led to a Brahmarette championship victory. The final score was 4-3. 


JV White Baseball- Schedule Change

The JV White game will be played at Lamar on Tuesday, March 11th at 5:00 due to a misunderstanding between coaches when the game was scheduled.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

HS BASEBALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The East Bernard Varsity boys baseball team traveled to Flatonia to compete in the Stanley Krist Memorial Tournament and went 2-0 on Thursday defeating Fayettville 7-1 and Smithville 6-2.

The Brahmas were led by pitchers Kyle Hlavinka, Garrett Polak,  Tyler Sulak, and Austin Henry. They combined for 14 innings and two wins on the day. Both victories were a result of solid defense and a good day of hitting. 

The Brahmas will be playing in the championship game in Flatonia at 5:30 on Saturday, March 8, 2014.

If your child has any active vomiting/diarrhea or fever over 100 they need to stay home from school . They can not return until they have been fever free without fever reducing medication for 24 hours.Also no vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours prior to return to school.

TENNIS TEAM WINS TEAM TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Congratulations to the Tennis Team for placing 1st in the Regional Team Tennis Tournament and qualifying for the State Team Tennis Tournament this weekend in Georgetown.

The team beat Somerville with a score or 18-1 and beat Brazos in the final 17-2.

The JV baseball team lost two close games to Shiner on Saturday.  The Brahmas battled hard but fell short, losing 3-2 and 5-4.

Just a reminder:  The JV game scheduled for today, Monday, March 3rd  has been canceled. 

HS BASEBALL TEAM PLACES 2nd AT TOURNMENT

The East Bernard Brahmas won second place at the Sacred Heart baseball tournament this past weekend. The good guys lost the championship game 12-2 against Schulenburg.

All-tournament medals were given to Garrett Polak, Kyle Hlavinka, and Justin Mcguire. 

TRACK REMINDER

Just a reminder that the teams will be attending the Rice Track Meet on Thursday, March 6th not Sealy.
