Brahma Basketball Season Ends

After being in the lead the entire game, the Brahmas lose in the last few seconds of the Regional Semi-Finals 48-46.

7TH Grade GIRLS PLACE IN NEEDVILLE

I have attached the results of the 7th grade girls track meet at Needville last night. 

The 7th girls finished 3rd place with 103 points behind Needville and El Campo.  We were extremely proud of the girls in their first meet.  We look forward to our next meet in Sealy on Tuesday, March 4th.

JH Needville Track Meet

Attached is the report from last nights JH track meet at Needville for the 7th grade boys.  

The Boys finished is 2nd place at the meet with 123 points.

Brahmarettes win Columbus Track Meet

Congratulations to the JV AND Varsity Girls Track Teams for winning the Columbus Track Meet last night. The girls defeated 10 other teams to claim the title! Results will be emailed shortly.

Way to go Brahmarettes and Good Luck to Boys Basketball and Team Tennis today!


Brahma Baseball

The East Bernard Brahma Varsity baseball team played two games at the Sacred Heart Tournament in Hallettsville on Thursday.

The Brahmas opened up the tournament with an early morning win over the Ganado Indians with a score of 11-0. The Brahmas were led by senior pitcher Garrett Polak who struck out 10 Indians. The Brahma offense took control of the game scoring 3 runs in the top of the first and never looking back. The Brahmas had 18 hits by the end of the 7th inning. Leading the offensive charge with 3 hits each were Garrett Polak, Justin Mcguire, Kyle Hlavinka, and Travis Hlavinka

Next up was Thursday's closing game against the Shiner Comanches. Kyle Hlavinka pitched a gem. He gave up 1 hit and 1 unearned run in 7 innings while striking out 9. The Brahma offense again kept the bats going collecting 11 hits and scoring 6 runs to defeat Shiner 6-1

The Brahmas advanced to the championship game on Saturday, 3/1/14 at 6 pm in Hallettsville. 

8th Grade Win Needville Track Meet

The East Bernard 8th grade track team started of the year winning the Needville Track meet and setting 2 school records in the process. The 1600 m relay record now belongs to Thomas Long, Locke Rowley, Deleon Perkins and Will Anderson running 3:48.28 beating the old record by 5 seconds. The 4 x 100 m relay of Deleon Perkins, Locke Rowley, Andrew Clifton and Will Anderson set a new record running 46.92. Congratulations to the entire East Bernard team on a great meet. The results are attached.

CHEER THE BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM TO VICTORY

The boys basketball team will be leaving around 1:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2014 headed to Seguin for the Regional Basketball Tournament.  
They are going to drive down Fitzgerald street and come by the front of the Elem and HS, then taking a left on to Leveridge.  The cheerleaders and the band will be making alot of noise as they drive by the HS. So, we hope the Elem and JH will head outside and do the same.

Parents, fans and community please help spread the word and line up Leveridge street.

We are asking all to help participate and send them off feeling the love and support of our school and community. 

Let's line up Fitzgerald and Leveridge with lots of SPIRIT!!!  Go BRAHMAS!!!!

Goldie Harris Gymnasium is located in the 1300 block of Cedar St.  Coming from IH 10, take Exit 610 and go south on State Hwy 123 to the 2nd traffic light (Cedar St.).  Turn right on Cedar and go approx. 100 yards.   Turn left into the parking lot between the tennis courts and the stadium.  Goldie Harris Gymnasium will be in front of you. The gymnasium will be on the east side.  Gates will open at 5:00 pm


Ticket Prices: Adult...$5.00
                         Student...$3.00

No District or Senior Citizen Passes accepted.
THSCA, TABC, AND TGCA will be admitted free of charge with proof of membership.

No hand-held signs, pompoms or noise makers will be permitted.

JV BASEBALL CANCELLED

Due to the Boy Basketball Playoffs, both JV games scheduled in East Bernard against Wharton have been cancelled.

BRAHMAS WIN REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS!!

In a battle of East meets East, the East Bernard Boys Basketball Team had the lead 1 time last night, for 1 second by 1 point as the Brahmas had a gutsy come from behind 65-64 victory over the Buccaneers of East Chambers.  
The Brahmas fell behind early after the first quarter trailing 28-17.  They used the remaining 3 quarters to chip away at the lead to put themselves in position to win.  After the Brahmas took their first lead they were able to contest the Bucs last shot and secure their spot in the Regional Tournament. 
The Brahmas want to thank the fans, students and parents for coming out and supporting them during this memorable run.  What a great crowd!!
The Brahmas will be making more memories Friday night in Seguin as they take on Aransas Pass at 8:00 pm.

The East Bernard Brahmas will play East Chambers Buccaneers tonight for the Regional Quarterfinals Title  @ Clear Falls High School - 4380 Village Way - League City, TX  77573.

Game time will be at 7:00pm.  East Bernard will be the visiting team.  Ticket prices will be $5.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Students. District 26AA passes will be accepted along with Senior Citizens, THSCA, TABC, AND THSADA.

The Brahmas overcame a rough first half, trailing 24-18.  The Brahmas were able to regroup defensively and offensively the second half to lead them to a 68-50 victory over the Hornets of Hardin.  The Brahmas aggressive play lead to several key defensive stops and some timely baskets.  

The Brahmas next contest will be vs. the Pirates of Poth.  Information on the game is TBA.

Miranda Lehmann gives Brahmarettes late push to beat Bellville, 9-5

Brahmarettes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Kelbi singled to ignite Brahmarettes' offense. A stolen base then moved Kelbi from first to second. Brahmarettes added more runs when Navarro scored on a groundout by Miranda. Miranda Lehmann brought home the winning run to give Brahmarettes the lead in the seventh inning, as Brahmarettes hung on to beat Bellville 9-5 on Tuesday. Kelbi Fortenberry singled to get on base in the seventh. She then went from first to third on a single by Corina Navarro.

The Junior High Gifted and Talented students are hosting a cereal drive.  We are collecting boxes of cereal to donate to Lunches of LoveLunches of Love is a non-profit organization that provides sack lunches for Rosenberg/Richmond children in need.  Lunches are given over long weekends or breaks from school when some children go hungry.  We are collecting donated cereal boxes to be given out over spring break.
We will be collecting boxes from Feb. 17th--- Mar.3rd.

9:30 am - Communication Skills - learn how to effectively communicate with the professionals who provide services to your child.

10:30 am - Understanding and Organizing ARD Paperwork - This workshop will examine critical parts of the ARD paperwork that parents need to be able to find and understand.  Tips on creating an ARD binder will also be discussed.  Feel free to bring your child's ARD paperwork for this hands-on presentation.

JV vs. Danbury

The JV boys finished up their season with a commanding win over Danbury by a score of 46-19.  The win wrapped up an outright districttitle for the boys.  They finished the year 15-4 overall and 9-1 in
district

Brahmas vs. Danbury

The Brahma Boys Basketball Team wrapped up district play with a perfect 12-0 district championship with a 52-47 victory over the visiting Panthers of Danbury. 

The Brahmas used tough defense and timely shooting to seal the deal. 

The Brahma Basketball Team wanted to thank everyone for coming out last night and supporting the Brahmas to this great accomplishment.  The Brahmas next game will be next week in a first round playoff game.

Brahmarettes End An Outstanding Season

The Brahmarettes lost a hard fought game to East Chambers in the first round of the playoffs last night 59-56.  Scoring for the Brahmarettes were Kaneesha Smith - 27; Brandy Babin - 9; Rachel Polak - 6; Courtney Clipson - 5; Brooke Boettcher - 4; Angelica Lopez - 3; Megan Kramr - 2. 

The girls had a great season and our seniors have accomplished a great deal as Brahmarette basketball players.  They include Amanda Boettcher, Kaneesha Smith, Megan Kramr, Kelly Kubena, Madison Francis, Angelica Lopez, Amber Matej and Brandy Babin.  Congratulate these girls on a great basketball career at East Bernard.

The Brahmarette basketball team travels to Phillips Fieldhouse in Pasadena this evening for their 1st round match-up with the East Chambers Lady Bucs.  Game time is 8:00 p.m.

BRAHMARETTE BASKETBALL SHIRTS ARE IN

Brahmarette playoff t-shirts are in and will be distributed today, Monday February 10 in foyer of high school gym from 4:30 - 5:15 pm or until gone, whichever comes first.

SOFTBALL GAME CANCELLED

The softball game today in Wharton has been cancelled due to the weather and will not be rescheduled.

BASEBALL SCRIMMAGE CANCELLED

The Baseball scrimmage against Wharton today has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Band Winners

We had over 20 kids participate in solo and ensemble this past weekend. I am very proud of how well the kids behaved and performed for an entire afternoon. 

Of note we have the following students who received a 1st division rating and get to move on to state competition in late May.
