State Tennis Qualifiers
Congratulations goes out to Mac and Caleb Gideon for their State Qualification. It's been a while since EB has sent tennis kids to State. I know these two have inspired many others, who were close to making it through to the next level, to set goals for next year. Despite great effort yesterday, the duo lost to White Oak 6-1, 6-0. White Oak was the returning second place team from last year and are in the finals this year. The boys gave a them a good fight. We are very proud of them

Boys Regional Track Results
Congrats to our boys on winning the Regional Track Meet in San Antonio this past weekend. The following athletes will be competing in the State Track Meet in two weeks.

There were 16 girls competing in each event.
Extremely proud of these young ladies so please congratulate them if you see them.
Terralyn Williams is the lone qualifier for the State Meet as she will represent EB in the Triple Jump and the 100m. hurdles.

ATHLETIC PHYSICALS
We will be having athletic physicals on Tuesday May 7th starting at 5:00 p.m. in the new gym.
Physicals will be for incoming 7th, 9th, and 11th graders and any new students or students with major injuries within the last year. These students are required to have a physical and the physicals are free of charge.

The Brahma Varsity Baseball team suffered their first district loss Friday night to the Danbury Panthers by a score of 7-6. The Brahmas scratched out 6 runs, on 4 hits but fell short of the win

HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS RESULTS
A big CONGRATS goes out to Mac and Caleb Gideon for placing 2nd at the regional tennis tournament in boys doubles and qualifying for the state tournament on April 29th. The boys won their 1st 2 matches on Wednesday beating East Chambers and the number 1 seed Karnes City. On Thursday they won against Refugio but fell just short in a 3 set game to Ingram. Their final match was against Schulenburg in a playback and they clenched 2nd with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
In addition to these 2 qualifiers we had 2 teams medal for 3rd place and state alternates. The team of Brandy Babin and Ashley Dusek in girls doubles only lost 1 match to Halletsville, but was unable to get a playback finishing 3rd winning against Banquette, Lago Vista, and Hebbronville . The team of Kelly Hernandez and Jonathan Hlavinka also lost only 1 match against Ingram. They too were unable to have a playback placing them 3rd after beating Anahuc, the #1 seed from Industrial and Bishop.
Everyone of our Regional Qualifiers played well. 12 out of the 14 won thier 1st match. The 2 that fell short, Rachel Polak and Blake Hlavinka, drew the number 1 seed in both divisions, but still battled well on the courts. 6 out of those 12 made it to the second day. The teams of Kristen Cullers and Erin Cullers, Daniel Garza and Nathan Hlavinka, and Karen Johnston and Trevor Cook played tough matches taking each of thier opponents to 3 sets before falling just short of a chance at the Regional Semi's.
With only having 2 seniors on the team, we are looking forward to next year.

DONATE TO THE TOWN OF WEST, TEXAS
By now, you've all heard of the horrendous explosion in the small town of West Texas, near Waco. A fire in a fertilizer plant got out of control and exploded. A lot of homes were destroyed. Mr. Mark Felton who is with the Red Cross, Heart of Texas Waco Chapter has given the following information.

· Diapers

· Teddy Bears/Stuffed Animals
· Adult diapers

· Alcohol

If you wish to donate any of the items above, Pastor Alex will be making a run to the drop off site below after we honor our graduating high school seniors on Sunday. If you wish to give a money donation, the money will be donated to the Red Cross for the West, Texas explosion.
Contributions must be delivered by 12 PM, Sunday, April 21 to the First United Methodist Church

Brahmarette Softball
The Brahmarette softball team will play Van Vleck Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Ganado to determine third place for district playoffs. We are both currently tied for third with records of 6-4. Thanks for your support with our program.

Girls Golf Wins 2nd at Regionals - Head to State!
Congratulations goes out the East Bernard Girls Golf Team!!! They were the Regional Golf Runners-up placing 2nd as a team!!
Team of Kate Rimer (80/83) Annie Bradley (88/85) Kara Morse (101/107) Rachel Polak (117/117) and Jayci Potts (127/121) had a two day team total of (778).
Kate Rimer was the overall 1st place medalist with a two day total of (163)
Annie Bradley was the overall 3rd place medalist with a two day total of (173)
The Girls will advance to compete in the State Golf Tournament in Austin on Thursday-Friday May 2-3 at Roy Kizer Golf Course!!

BOYS BRAHMA GOLF TEAM GOES TO STATE!
Congratulations! goes out the East Bernard Boys golf team. They are the 2013 Regional Golf Champions!!!!
Team of Garrett Losack (78/77) Nathan Tovar (86/88) Derrick Rucka (92/93) Josh Vincek (95/94) and Ethan Russell (96/97) had a two day team total of (703).
Garrett Losack was the third place overall medalist with a two day total of (155)
The boys team will compete in the State Tournament on Thursday-Friday May 2-3 in Austin at Roy Kizer Golf Course.

Brahma Baseball
The East Bernard Brahma Varsity baseball team defeated the Rice Raiders last Friday night by a score of 20-0.
Cole Koeppen got the win pitching 4 innings and only giving up two hits. Kyle Hlavinka, came in to pitch the 5th inning and struck out the side to seal the win.Come out and support the Brahmas as they take on Van Vleck Tuesday night, here at Koym Field at 7:00 pm.

Brahma Baseball
The Varsity Baseball team defeated the Brazos Cougars last night in Brazos by a score of 10-6. Josh Vincek got the win pitching 5 1/3 inning and giving up only 2 runs. Offensively, Grant Aschenbeck and Derrick Rucka led the team with 4 hits a piece.
Brahmarette Softball
East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity beats Brazos 5-1
Alyssa Reyes went 2-3, helping East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity to a 5-1 victory over Brazos on Tuesday at Brazos. She singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
Katie Reyna struck out seven, paving the way for a East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity win. Reyna allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk over seven innings.
The top of the first saw East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity take an early lead, 1-0. Reyna singled to ignite East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity's offense.
Brazos managed to score one run in the first inning on an error.
East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Reyes.
East Bernard Brahmarettes Varsity piled on two more runs in the top of the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Kaitlyn Floyd homered to kick things off. That was followed up by Angelica Lopez's double, plating Lauren Riley.

Congratulations to this year's Brahma Beat newspaper staff and the 2012 Brahma yearbook staff for both being nominated by UIL for a Star Award.

The academic Regional IV UIL meet will be held Friday and Saturday, April 19, 20, at Texas State University in San Marcos. The Computer Science team will compete on Friday, and the rest of the students will compete on Saturday.

The EB FFA Booster Club is having a "hotdog stand" fundraiser on Sat. April 6 at the American Legion Hall starting at 11am until sold out. $5 Combos include loaded hotdogs(homemade chili), chips and a drink. Come hungry! Bring your kids!

DISTRICT TRACK RESULTS
Congratulations to our varsity and junior varsity boys on winning district championships in their respective divisions at the district meet this past Thursday and Friday at Rice Cons. We have 20 boys that will move on to compete in the Area meet this week back at Rice Cons. Results are attached. Note that Ty Slanina broke the school record in the 200, a record that was set last in 1982.
Congratulations to the Varsity Girls who won the District Championship in Track. They outscored Brazos by 99 pts. to clinch the title.
There will be 17 girls representing East Bernard at the Area Meet on Wednesday.
Congratulations to the JV Girls who won the District Track Championship.
The girls outscored Rice by 84 pts. to clinch the title.

BRAHMA BASEBALL
The Brahma Varsity baseball team defeated the Boling Bulldogs last night with a score of 14-2.
Jacob Vincek got the win only giving up one hit in 4 innings. Jacob also got three hits including a 3-run homerun in the second inning.
