East Bernard ISD Transfer Policy

East Bernard ISD will begin accepting student transfer applications for the upcoming school year.  The school board approved accepting transfers during the July school board meeting.  However, transfer students are subject to administrative regulations, as well as a $300 non-refundable tuition fee per child per year.
"This is not just an open enrollment."  For example, "if a grade level is sitting at a 17:1 student to teacher ratio, we are not going to accept any transfers for that grade."
Other regulations include an interview with the parents and the student, report cards, attendance and discipline records.  EBISD will not provide transportation for transfer students.  All of the factors will weigh in before being accepted as a transfer.  A transfer student must re-apply every year and pay the tuition every year.  Each year the regulations are subject to change, and their is no guarantee that you will be admitted every year.  We will not accept out of district transfers if the transfer creates a need for additional staffing, changes in classroom space, results in enrollment imbalance, or causes a potential disruption of the educational programs at one of our campuses. East Bernard ISD is trying to maintain a proper balance of student/teacher ratios to maximize state funding.  Some grade levels have over 80 students and other grades have as low as 65 students. It only makes economic sense to pick up a few more students in the classes that are small.   Accepting transfers will not affect our classification for the upcoming UIL realignment.  An application packet may be picked up at the EBISD administrative office located at 723 College Street, East Bernard, TX 77435.  Any incomplete applications will not be processed.
