Texas high school juniors can take the ACT or SAT for FREE!

Simply ask your high school counselor for a voucher and then register at www.actstudent.org or www.sat.collegeboard.com.

Solo & Ensemble Results

Congratulations to the East Bernard Brahma Band members for their outstanding achievements at the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest this past Friday & Saturday.  The Junior High School bands won 97 First Division Ensemble Medals and 42 First Division Solo Medals.  The High School Band won 38 First Division Ensemble Medals and 8 First Division Solo Medals.

Girls Track Results

The JV and Varsity girls competed in their first track meet last night at Brazos and both teams brought home the Team Championship.

Golf Results

The East Bernard Golf Teams traveled to Columbus on Monday and Tuesday, 2/21-2/22. Results were as follows:

Boys team (Garrett Losack, Blake Stelzel, Nathan Tovar, Nathan Korenek, Jacob Hough) shot a team score of 367, which placed them 6th out of 12 teams competing. Individually, Blake Stelzel shot an (86) which tied him for 14th out of 68 players. Garrett Losack shot an (87) which tied him for 18th out of 68 players.

Digital Photography Class Today

Today's free technology training classes are "Digital Photography" and "Picasa."  Both classes will be held in the Junior High Lab.  The digital photography class is from 4pm to 5pm and the picasa class is from 5pm to 6pm.  Remember these are free hands-on classes and anyone is welcome to attend.  Please e-mail darve.smith@ebisd.org to reserve a seat.

If you have a digital camera, feel free to bring it tonight!

Boys Golf Results

East Bernard took (8) boys and (2) girls, on Monday & Tuesday
2/14-2/15, and competed in the Sweeny Invitational. The tournament was
held at the Wilderness Golf Course in Lake Jackson.
East Benard's boy's team placed 9th our of 14 teams. Freshman, Garrett
Losack shot the low round for East Bernard with an (83). Garrett tied
for 7th, out of 89 players. East Bernard's Nathan Tovar, also a
freshman, shot the next best round with a (97). Nathan tied for 36th
out of 89 players.

Class Descriptions...

"Digital Photography"  With digital cameras so popular these days, there are a ton to choose from.  Learn what makes a digital camera different from a film camera.  What's a mega-pixel? Why are my pictures too dark or too light? Blurry? How much storage is enough?  Jpg? Tiff? RAW?  Learn how to take great pictures with your camera.  If you have a digital camera, bring it with you along with the cables needed to connect it to the computer and learn how to import the images onto a computer's hard drive.

"Picasa"  Learn how to use this popular and FREE software to organize and edit your digital photos and even store them online in albums you can share with your friends.  Picasa can also create collages, slideshows, and gift CDs.

"Social Networking"  Facebook.  MySpace.  Twitter.  FourSquare.  There are hundred of ways that you and your children can interact online.  Learn what the term "Social Networking" means in regards to the internet and how you can utilize the many available applications in your daily life or even in your classroom.  Questions about privacy on these sites?  Learn what to look for to "lock down" your private information.

4pm - 5pm  "Cloud Computing"  In this class we will discuss the term cloud computing, and explain the concept of saving your documents in the cloud.  We will also explore some of the more popular online storage options and determine how these could be utilized in the classroom.

5pm - 6pm  "Prezi Presentations"  As an online alternative to PowerPoint presentations, Prezi presentations are a new way to keep students engaged in classroom content.  Learn how to set up a free Prezi account and create your own presentations.

Starting today, the EBISD Technology department is offering FREE Hands-on Technology Training for EBISD staff and community members.  Seats are limited so please sign up now.

The classes will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school in the Junior High Computer Lab, and taught by the EBISD technology department.

Basketball Games vs. Brazos

The boys basketball team finishes its season tomorrow night at home vs. Brazos.
It will be our Parents/Senior Night.

All games are in the New Gym.  Come out and support the Brahmas and our Senior, Ben Anderson, as they play their last game of the season.

Due to the weather, East Bernard ISD will not be holding classes on Friday, February 4, 2011.  School will dismiss at the normal time today, but is cancelled for tomorrow.
